Paranormal Profiteer question
« on: June 24, 2010, 08:34:13 PM »
I'm in the middle of writing the Paranormal Profiteer LTW walkthrough for the Guide and want to visit China to max out logic. At least in Sunset Valley while my guy reads a logic book I can actually see his career experience go higher and higher, but since the Career tab is inaccessible while on vacation I was wondering if anyone knew if logic gained on vacation would be applied to this career's experience upon returning home.

---------

Nevermind. I did the testing myself (thankfully without saving upon returning to SV). No dice. What a bummer.

Well, it sounds like we can't do anything at all toward work while on vacation.

Yeah, it's obviously because the career tab is grayed out, so nothing can be computed behind the scenes. But, it's still frustrating because you can have a bookworm doctor take advantage of a nice vacation to get his Logic metric to Outstanding, but the same activity does nothing for the Logic metric and career promotion of the Paranormal Profiteer. I understand why now, it's just kind of a bummer that your logic gained could not somehow be credited when you returned to kick up the performance meter. Probably a coding impossibility.

Ok, I also have a question about Paranormal Profiteer. My sim immediately wanted to join ghost hunting and I sent her to do that. She then wanted to learn logic & take a logic class. No problem, I send her to take a logic class and knock out 2 birds with one stone. It looks as though her job experience bar didn't move at all. So, my question is this: If my sims studies logic outside of work hours, does this count towards her job experience? And also if she goes spirit hunting (at level 5), and catches a few spirits outside work hours, does it count also? I'm just wondering if I should leave all logic training and ghost stuff to the hours of work for the max job experience benefit.

I never knew until today that 'solving the unsolvable' works on logic (yeah, had Sims 3 since release :D)  as I've never had a sim to do this bit before on the computer. If logic training outside of work hours counts towards the job experience, 'solving the unsolvable' would be a great little side deal: fun, logic & money.  ;) Who could ask for more??   ;D

Supposedly when you study logic, it brings experience bar up, I know in mine it did.  As for the ghost hunting outside of work hours, that has never came up for me.  If I was not finished an hour before 3am, I could not even hunt for anymore ghosts until the next work day.  I had one of those little ghosts in my own ghost hunters house and she could not zap it, it was kind of cute and it didn't bother my sims.  Someone else might have their own take on this also.
Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

At level 5, you can click on a community lot and 'scan for spirits'. I had my sim do this at the junk yard and she was able to banish the spirit when it appeared. I wouldn't have known this (though it does tell in the level advance info) had my sim not popped up a wish to do this very thing. That's what triggered my curiosity as to if this counts towards the job experience.  :)
