My sim wont get pregnant- [resolved :D]
« on: November 26, 2012, 10:05:03 AM »
Just to reiterate the title there, my sim really wont get pregnant. It's been almost two weeks of constant 'try for baby'.

-Their moods are always good
-They're married and have had one baby already before this issue
-No conflicting traits
-Full affection bars
-Neither are any where close to ageing up (they're on epic)
-I've made them try every where I can get them to.
-She does not have the dislike children trait. In fact it's one of her wishes to have a new baby.

I did have an issue last week where I changed the lifespan bar of the baby from 30 days to 6, and every one in my house aged up. I tried to fix it, ect ect, but the issue just couldn't be resolved. They're both now adults because of this wonderful bug. I read that Adult females have a harder time conceiving but this is beyond ridiculous, it's probably been close to 50 tries. I also know of the jingle glitch but even though I've never heard it she hasn't been sick at all, and now to top it off the husband is no longer interested in trying in the bed- he just cancels it every time despite being in perfect condition (probably overworked him :P )

If anyone could give me any clues that would be great. I had kind of hoped to have more then just the one child and since this is my 'main' sim I don't feel the best about giving up :S

Have you tried resetting the whole town?  It may be a glitch in the town because you've played it for some long.  Have you thought of having them move?  Or maybe saving their house and placing them down somewhere else?

Do you use mods?  Have you cleared out your caches?

If "trying in the bed and he cancels it" have you tried deleting the bed and buying a new one? Is it only the bed that gives you this problem? Do what Rica suggests, over than the bed, I have no clue. When mine had that problem I just bought a new bed/shower.

You do have enough empty spots in the household don't you? You mentioned the parents plus one, but do you have any animals as well?

Do you have Supernatural installed?
There's a mood lamp glitch that prevents Sims from getting pregnant. Even if you don't have the mood lamp in your house if your Sim has been near one and got a moodlet sometimes the moodlet won't go away and it will stick to your Sim making it impossible for them to be pregnant.

Just a thought; but I agree with everyone else, try resetting your town, resetting your Sim.
The mods could be an issue too.

Just an update. No mods and I cleaned out my cache. The husband is definitely the issue now, before they were trying and not getting pregnant but now the options have disappeared all together for him. Replaced the bed, refuses to relax in it. They can't woohoo any where else either, the options just not there. I went to another family and they tried successfully- so it is just this family.

I haven't reset the town or my sims, tbh I don't know much about resetting and haven't felt the need to try it. Will give it a try now though :)

Also I do have supernatural installed, though I'm playing bridgeport atm. I don't have a mood lamp but neither of the couple has a moodlet from one.

Oh my god. Husband has had a salad bowl stuck to his hand for about as long as he's stopped woohooing. I swear if that's the problem i'm going to face palm so bad.

edit: So I reset him- the salad bowl is no longer grafted to his hand, the two tried for a baby and conceived on the first go. I'm still confused as to why they didn't concieve in the first place but what ever- resseting completely fixed the mystery bug. Thanks for the help :)

Glad it's fixed! Silly salad bowls... sometimes those Sims just have trouble letting them go.  ::)
