Friend count affected by moving towns?

Wasn't sure whether to put this here or in Towns but this seemed slightly better fit. I'm thinking about getting Lunar Lakes and shifting a family across. One of the main members of the family has the Super Popular lifetime wish and is at 11/20 friends, so I'm wondering what happens to friend counts on moving a family across towns. Does she still have the friends but can't contact them, or does she have to start over? (Though obviously she'd have the friendships with her family members still.)

You'll be starting a whole new file when you move towns, so any friendships outside the family will be lost.

When you move towns, the sim will loose all relationships, except for the family members.
