Sim can't go to France or Egypt

Hi.  My sim is unable to travel to the above countries.  China seems to be fine.  When I arrive at the homes of France and Egypt, the house shows up and the sim is at the mailbox. The game immediately freezes and crashes the computer.  Sometimes I'm able to get to the task manager and it says my game is running.  The numbers in the task manager are as follows:  Processes 63; CPU Usage 25%; and Physical memory 40% with slight variations on each crash.  Sometimes I'm able to close down from there and other times it just takes me back to the game screen and I have to do a hard shut down.

Can anyone help me get them back?

Have you tried clearing your caches?  Also, are you playing full screen or windowed mode?  Many times, switching to windowed mode makes a huge difference and solves a lot of problems.

My solution would be to install a couple addons from Nraas/Twallan - ErrorTrap and Traveller.  Traveller in particular.

So, this is a second completely different thread about the exact same problem?  You never need to have more than one thread about an issue.  I'm going to merge this thread with the one you originally made.

Sorry Pam, I wasn't sure if I needed to start a new one or if a reply to my first one would bring the thread back up.  I delete my cache files after every game play.

I downloaded Twallan's Traveler, and I already use ErrorTrap.  No difference except that I got picture icons for the countries rather than the blue symbol icons and it asked my for a new saved file name or re-write over existing file when he was on his way.

I then used the window mode with the mod, and the game is still crashing.

I'm not the expert, but if you went to the Nraas site and posted what's going on over there, they might be able to help.  ErrorTrap should be catching why it's crashing but I'm not an expert in how to access all that.  Chatterbox would work.  Just let them know what patch level you're running and what mods you're running.

Hi Dellena,  I checked in Twallans and I'm not able to post there but I did find that other people are having the same problem with traveling and other crash issues.  So for now I've just deleted the mods, although I don't think are the problem because my game is still crashing without them.  I'm thinking it may be the patch itself. 1.42.  So I'll just wait a while and try the mods again later.  Maybe there will be a cure.  Thanks for trying.  I appreciate it.

Glad to be of help.  Hopefully he'll figure out what the cause is soon.  I think he's still researching some of the new coding with 1.42.
