Editing the Source Texture DDS files
« on: November 21, 2012, 02:47:22 PM »
The files in the "Source Textures" folder in the caw folder have a .dds extension. Does anyone know how to edit those files? Can Photoshop do it?

I found a solution that works for me. A mac program called Graphic Converter made short work of my task. But not everybody is running both a windows machine and a mac so others might appreciate a purely windows solution if anybody has one.

You can get a .dds plugin for Photoshop which allows you to open .dds files. Make sure that you chose 'no' when it asks you if you want to view the MIPmaps. When you save you make sure 'generate MIPmaps' is ticked. With that, you can edit ANY image or texture from the game :D I have been editing textures and rabbitholes for the past few weeks now.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that. I did come across that solution but unfortunately I run Photoshop on my mac and I couldn't find a version of that plug-in for a mac. But that s a good option for those running PS on there windows machines.
