I like realism in my games to some extent, but the amount of rain in the fall, way, way, way too much.  So far I''ve had more rain than clear days, which means less time at the fair.  Have gone there a couple of times and it is empty except for one or two sims, it seems they don't like the rain either.
So, can I change the amount of rainfall, how many days, how long it rains?  Can the temperatures be changed, say from being 25 degrees F to 40 F?  For me, average in Fall is mid 30s to mid 60s day and mid 20s to mid 40s at night at the start.  Further into the season, the temps drop pretty fast, but not at the beginning.

As much as I can't stand winter, it is easier for a sim to go out in the snow with warm clothes, gloves and play in the snow.  With rain, all I get is cold moodlets, even with the umbrella they seem to get the soaked moodlet.   Changing clothes when they go insides fixes that; but that doesn't help at the fair.

You have the option to turn off rain, hail, and any other weather effects.  It's not a slider, just an on-off thing.

If you want to use the testingcheats option, you can use that to turn off rain, have it heavy or light and you can also adjust the tempature, amount of snow, how hard the wind blows.  I use it usually when it is raining and it is time for a holiday and won't quit, so I turn the rain off. :)

I know what you mean, soon as hit Autumn, it rains every day for hours. I actually don't mind it, but I can see how it would be annoying.

However, I would also recommend to check the umbrellas - first to make sure it's the waterproof one and not the parasol (I did that once, whoops!), and two, if you can, upgrade them to unbreakable (I've also had them tattered and useless). I don't get the soaked moodlet with an umbrella in use now.

I didn't know you could upgrade the umbrellas!  Awesome, thanks for the tip.

Most welcome! They can be upgraded manually (with screwdriver in hand), or a witch with high enough skill can do it magically.

Thank you for reminding me, I have two Sims that need Handiness and the umbrellas are not looking so good. It rains almost every day now, my poor Sim had her wedding in the middle of a storm. Her outdoor wedding. And her dress was just not made for those temperatures. I'm not surprised it rains so much in Autumn, but in the summer it sort of confused me.

There is also the Dr F climatron control Unit to purchase with lifetime points, if you don't want to turn off the rain completely then you can just change the weather at the actual time you want it changed.

Thank you Salty, I didn't know  about it. I will use it for sure!

Carl's guide says there will be heavy downpours and lightening.  That is what I had in the Fall, if it is supposed to be more, then Spring will be nothing BUT rain.

I have turned the rain off and left the others on; have had a hail storm, not bad, can live with them (we have hards here, one recently hard enough that insurance is going to have to replace our roof).  I thought it was raining, just a shower really, then realized it was hail.

I'm beginning to wonder if I didn't get a "lemon" game,  :) .  Somewhat serious, I have had problems that shouldn't be happening, glitches that are in the same spot whenever I play a game there.
Heavy rains, strong winds, lightening, temps in the 30s and low 40s day and 20s at night in Fall, yet in Winter so far it has been in the 50s and 60s day and 30s at night.

I mostly find it annoying in combination with gardening. It almost doesn't seem viable to have an outside garden anymore just because it goes dormant due to cold temperatures so often - basically all of fall and winter, then even during spring as well if the temperature dips even a little. At the moment I just have a few plants in planters along the second floor hallway but I'll probably build a shed and see if I can have a sprinkler inside as long as the floor remains terrain. (Without having puddles to mop up constantly, I mean.)

I thought about doing that too, for the same reason, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Let us know if it works? Having outdoor gardening only be viable one fourth of the year is really a pain.

With Supernatural installed, one option for dealing with the mess left by indoor sprinklers would be Bonehilda.

Poor Bonehilda,
She would never get any rest, between raking leaves and mopping up puddles.   :)Maybe it would help to keep her away from the babies and toddlers.

With testing cheats enabled true on you can shift click the ground to change all kinds of seasons related things like wind weather even the season you're on. Its useful if you don't want it to rain on spooky day or want it to snow in summer. You can also change the snows deepness.

One of my sims decided they wanted to join the gardening career, i've let them but I can see it being a struggle, I so wish they had added planters with seasons as they knew the plants would go dormant but I guess they already had the greenhouse coming out and Supernatural, which I don't have, I don't want to have to spend money just so he can have planters  :-\

As for the weather well i've just played my first year and there does seem a lot of bad weather, by the end of the 7 days I was already sick of snow, and then I got my teens all dressed up nice for prom but they put outerwear on to get in the limo so that is what they are wearing on the prom picture  ::)

They are both young adults now and getting married shortly, think I shall be cheating the weather for the wedding day so it's nice. Might do that on prom days in future as well.
