So glad it's taken down, I was seriously worried that it could take weeks like it has in the past. If there's one positive thing to come out of all this it's that we've demonstrated what a brilliant and united community this is.  :)
Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.

Yay! On a side note, I like the blooper when you click on the link to Union Cove and it is gone :D (yes, I had to see for myself)

I'm very happy it didn't take ya'll weeks like it did us. I'm hoping EA has some new blocks they can put in place to prevent the plagarism from happening more often.

I am so pleased that as a community we came together and got the result that we wanted. We also acted with dignity and for the most part kept our anger in check.
I feel really proud of our forum family and this just highlights the reasons why we all come here every day.

I know that the forum is very useful for both memebers and nonmembers who come seeking  answers or help. But is there anyway to "lock" the swap shop to nonmembers? Just so we know its not a stranger downloading stuff. Sure it would "force" people to join to download anything, but it would prevent strangers from stealing stuff.

And to claify locking or making private only part of the forums not all of it.

It doesn't have to be a stranger at all who did this.
And if they really wanted too they simply could join just for the purpose of downloading Union Cove.

If its anything like other forums, they can suspend user accounts. One game I played, they removed anyone who hasn't posted in a month (Or posted a Leave of Absence)

You just post that somewhere where its ontopic and I will vote for your idea.

Anyone can sign up and download it once signed up, there are a lot of members who make one post and then never return.

Those often are called spammers. Because we prevent them from returning. ;)

So true. If you look at our members, we have 71 pages of members. There are 34 pages of members who have not made any posts whatsoever and another 10 pages of members who have only made 1 post since joining.

As I've already mentioned, the staff works on these things as needed.  Carl periodically purges accounts from the Forum.  I would really prefer that this thread not become suggestions on how to run the Forum.  That's the staff's job.  Members just need to enjoy themselves.  :)

The Union Cove incident is over, so let's just let this thread fade away.

Just to clarify something that came up here, UC is available without signing up here at the forum - it's distributed through the guide where it can get the most visibility. We could have kept it secure here, but it's such a work of art that it should be shared with The Sims 3 community at large and has certainly inspired some members to come to the forum to see the community that created it. When UC is updated, it will go on the Exchange.

That said, I want to thank you all again. It made my day to see this removed and am grateful to those of you who reported the upload and expressing your support to the team. Big thanks to Thomas who took a lot of initiative to solve this problem.

Now I can work on the Seasons gateway without this weighing on my mind. Off to get some lovely screenshots for that :D

Glad it was taken down!  What a slap in the face for the creators of UC  >:(  I loved Union Cove and I was so sad it wouldn't run very well on my PC, but still admire it for it's superb imagination and well-planned layout.  :)

I hope everyone keeps an eye out for it to appear again under a "new" name.  After reading this thread and watching how he lost all of his "friends" on his Sims3 site, I kind of thought the nitwit would recreate an account and do it again just for spite.   ???

It's probably not possible to create two accounts. You need a TS3 serial code to register, and EA probably blocks two accounts with the same code.

Oh good!  I didn't realize that, I'm hardly on there unless looking at store content.

I didn't even know about this until after it was taken down, but I'm really glad it got taken care of. UC is a gorgeous place that this forum made and for someone to take credit for it is just horrendous. And I'm glad he/she lost all their friends, someone that takes credit for someone elses work deserves to have no friends.
