I don't know, maybe. I know that there was a whole lot of back-lash about the use of mods to add the population with the forum's previous 'no mods stance'. He/she may have been one of those part of that argument. I haven't seen any comments at all from the uploader. They may not have had ill-intentions, that is why I feel it is best to refrain from making accusations and insults. They definitely needed to know what they did was wrong though, so I think the comments from Pam and Carl were succinct and polite.

Something I wondered about, since it is his only creation and he has only one game registered, can it be revenge of some sort?

That is definitely a possibility that crossed my mind. For the same reasons you've mentioned but the uploader has her account active since 2009, so it's not made recently just for this purpose.

I don't think that's likely. That debate petered out at the end and I think we all left on neutral terms.

Union Cove is beautiful and our guide is very popular, so it's not completely surprising it attracted this sort of attention. I think we should just leave it at that and not speculate too much about the uploader's motives.

I haven't been able to access the Sims 3 site since before I went to work, so several hours.  If they are dealing with some sort of technical meltdown it might explain why they've been slow to deal with this.  But I have to think that they will eventally remove it, if only to get a break from all of us reporting it.

I did report it as well.  I know it isn't even close to the same scale, but I worked for a long time on my Cold Glass house of Water, and I would be pretty upset if someone claimed that work as their own.  I think that the fact that there isn't a profit motive here actually makes it worse.  The only reason we have to share our work is our sense of pride in what we've made, and it's pretty pathetic for someone else to try to claim that source of pride for themselves.
I'm Tealeaf, and I approve of this message.

I thought so too this morning because it said I had to log in to view it even though I was already logged in. I just logged in again, even though I was already, then tried the profile page again and it let me in.

Thanks Twinmum, just tried again and I can now access it, must of been a glitch on the site.  Can't believe it is still on the site 1244 downloads.  Hoping EA will sort it soon  :(

I hate to say it, but, this has become common in the sims community.

I am a moderator at Bear Mountain Creations. Our Pleasantview BMC was stolen an uploaded to the exchange too!
It took several weeks of constant reporting to finally get it removed.
The same thing happened to JudySims with one of her worlds. Which was also removed after several weeks and a lot of reporting.

What I don't understand is why it takes EA so long to remove content that doesn't belong to the uploader? I realise that they must be busy with a lot of other stuff, but surely the prevention of plagiarism should be a priority? In the meantime, the number of downloads just keeps going up. Surely there should be a 'lock' mechanism in place to prevent downloads of reported items until the issue of whether or not it was plagiarised is resolved?

Weeks?  I can't believe they would leave something up for weeks before finally removing it.  Surely they could at least require that disputed items be removed or find some way to stop people downloading them while EA is dealing with the complaints.

Leaving disputed items up for weeks sure isn't much of a deterrent for those who plagiarize others' hard work.  How very disappointing.

No it isn't a deterrent! I despise the thieves.
But, you have those people who can't see anything wrong with taking someones hard work and taking credit for making it. Those people are just as bad as the thieves who stole the work in the first place.
If you investigate a bit more at the exchange, you will find houses, sims and community lots that have been stolen from the creators and uploaded there.
I do not share anything on the exchange! But, I do check it to make sure my few creations have not been stolen by others.

For this person to upload UC to the exchange, of course they had to download it from Carls site.  Wonder if there is a way to check IP address.  Of course, I know you don't have to be a member of Carls forum to get UC.  Anyway, I reported again, but like someone said, it could take weeks before it comes down.

I'm assuming the world is still up, then? My Internet's acting up again, so I can't check. I hope it doesn't take weeks to get it down like it did for Bear Mountain Creations.  >:(
