Union Cove on Exchange without Permission
« on: November 20, 2012, 01:20:19 AM »
Union Cove was uploaded to the exchange without permission. We're hoping EA will take it down based on reports so this person doesn't get any satisfaction out of uploading the work of others. If we had wanted it on the exchange at the time, it'd be there... we simply wanted to keep it close to home as well as the ability to update it, and only now is such a thing possible.

Looks like they added store content in the mix. I know for a fact Union Cove is 100% CC free!

EDIT: I reported it, since my Sims were used without my permission, and I'm a generally easy going person with letting people use my creations, as long as they give me some sort of credit. In this case, no credit was given to my Simself, Polanco's Simself, or Charlie Sheen. No I'm not a top secret member, but still, my Sims are on there without my permission.

Thank you Jeana and LadyDragon, it is clear that someone stole our world and claim it as their own. I've been reporting it for last 24h ranting in those reports and sending links to the guide where it was announced and on topic on official site made almost year ago. I find out that in past this happen to other people and that EA reacted relatively fast so hopefully with enough reports it will be removed from exchange and Carl will put it under his account, while in description I will add credits to all who contributed to make UC the way it is. But first, we need to take it down.
I can hardly explain how I feel about this and what would I do to that "person" who had nerves to do this.

I'd hold him down for you, Ana.  I'm a writer and two of my dearest RL friends published artists as well.  Very few things get me fired up as much as plagiarism.  I'm sure the whole forum is proud of all you guys have done with Union Cove for us, I know I am, and I'm sure if we all band together now and report this thief, we'll get it taken care of.

This is very disappointing news. I love Union Cove and can see all the hard work that was put into it every time I play. To see someone take credit for work that isn't their's makes me sick. I can't build a home in Sims 3, let alone a world, but I'd never dream of stealing from others. I'm glad this has been reported and hope something can be done about it.

1176 downloads! Crikey! This person got all those downloads from our lots and our Sims and the terrain Ana sculpted and tested for six months. Half the love I have for the world comes from all the people who contributed to it, and seeing Union Cove stripped of that context is just ARGH. *fumes*

I've reported it for plagiarism and plan to do so again. Gotta love how they kept the part about "the spirit of justice and friendship" in the description.

EDIT: Okay, I just re-read this comment and it's probably a bit too emotional. I'm really sorry, I don't like getting angry like this. :(

I can't believe someone would commit such a blatant act of theft.  Did they really think they wouldn't be found out?  I've reported it as well.  I hope all these reports will be acted on.  One can only hope the thief will experience serious consequences as a result of this but I don't know what if anything will happen.

I've also shared it to my Facebook page stating it was plagiarized and asking any of my friends who are members there, to go and report it.

I've also posted a message to their wall stating that it has been reported and will continue to be reported. Maybe if they know they have been found out, they might remove it themselves.

It must be really heart breaking for you guys who made the world to see it getting so many downloads.

It's been reported by me and I also posted to the user's wall. I really hope they take it down soon. Plagiarism annoys me a lot, especially when it's the work of my dear friends that took time out to create a gift for this community. >:(

I hate to say it, but there are people out there who do this all the time. I can't go report him right now because I'm on my 3DS, but if I see it tomorrow I'll go do so.

Stealing one's creation is bad enough, but from a whole community is just being a total jerk on top of that.

EDIT: An hour later and without getting to sleep, I boot up the computer and report it. I cannot believe how many reccomendations it got!
“When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back!” - Cave Johnson, Portal 2
“You ought to upgrade to Windows 7!”, they said. “It’ll help your games run so much better!”, they said. If I see them again, then they had better know how to stabilize an on-the-fritz copy of The Sims 3 that was working just fine on Windows XP.

I reported it as soon as I found out. Plagiarism is horrible, and I hope they take it down as soon as possible.

Great that you spotted it so soon! I just hope that the people who downloaded it find out who the real creators are.
