"All" Toddler Books
« on: November 19, 2012, 04:17:32 PM »
Several of the challenges out there require for "all" toddler books to be read to the child before s/he ages up.  I dunno if they've added books in the expansions or what, but right now there are a veritable ton of them.  Way too many to get through in a normal toddler lifespan.  Any ideas which books are being included in the generic "all?"

Which challenges require you to read all of them?  That seems almost like too much although I tend to let toddlers read them on their own since they  can sometimes have such weird sleeping patterns.  My last toddler to read all 12 took 4 days to do it.

If you're talking about the skill books, there are nine of them:  three for each of Painting, Writing and Logic.  I am not aware of any challenge that requires the Jimmy Sprocket or other toddler books to be read.

Edit:  And by the way, if you take the toddler to the library to do the reading, it goes very quickly.

I second that. My toddler had all of them read to him in one afternoon!

And if you have the insence from China it will go even faster.
And if you have surrounded the toddler grib with scientifically upgraded items your toddler could even have enough points already to buy the Galoping Llama reward, which increases the speed of learning, if that one is unlockeable for a toddler in the first place that is.

Which challenges require you to read all of them?

I'm wondering the same thing.  I can't think of any of our challenges that have such a requirement.

I know that the "Perfect Children" goal in the Random Legacy challenge requires it, and I wouldn't be surprised if others do too.

Maybe it's a badge thing? You know, the things you can earn by completing certain things ingame. Jogging for 2000 kilometers for example.

If you're talking about the Orphanage Project, I wrote the rules for that one, and they say "all the toddler skill books," which as mentioned above means the 9 books for Painting, Writing and Logic.  There aren't any new toddler skill books to my knowledge.

As someone has already said, reading the books to the toddler in the library speeds the reading greatly, if you take the chinese incence burner with you, it goes even more quickly.  If your reader is also a bookworm, the speed is incredible, all done in a matter of an hour or so sim time! (Plus time taken to and from the library of course.)

The Jimmy Sprocket books are just for the toddler's entertainment. They do not increase toddlers' skills. Carl actually mentioned this in the Raising Toddler Guide.  That probably explains why there aren't any challenges that require them. :)
