In my game, I can't ask for promotion after it passes midnight. I have to wait for the morning to attempt asking.

"If you finish work the next day, you should make sure that you ask for a promotion before midnight - otherwise your sim will have to go to work anyway to stop their performance from dropping."

I never encountered this bug. But Criminal career seems to have the similar problem.

After reading this topic, i feel the need to make an account  ;D .

I give brave trait to all my sims, and i can confirm it lets you ask for promotion on work place every 5 days and performance bar must be high.

well, hope it helps, sorry for the bad English.  :P

Welcome to the forum ReKiemForADream :)
My Sim-husband is a Night-Owl, Computer Whiz, Loner, Perfectionist, and something else that my brain is just not remembering... I know it's not Workaholic or Ambitions or any career related sort of thing (and it's not Brave either)... but to get to the point is he has had the ability to ask for a promotion/raise from his boss in the Business Career.

I wish there was a threaten to blackmail boss option for my evil sims.  ;D

That would be amazing! In fact, I miss some "dark side of the force" interactions. Evil sims usually just cause mess, instead of actually getting something out of it.

Back on topic, if I understood it right the sim doesn't need any particular trait, must have 3/4 of the job performance bar filled, be a good friend with The Boss and can only ask for it once every 3 days, correct?

Two things I didn't get: do ask for raise and ask for promotions exclude one another, or you can ask for both? If the sim fails in its request, do the 3 days stand off apply?

The brave trait gives you an independent option ( it has nothing to do with bosses) clicking on work place, every 5 days ( if you fail, your performance goes down)

Now, for asking your boss, you need a high relationship with him and a high performance bar, you must ask for a raise first, then for a promotion, otherwise it excludes the raise, and yes, you can try later if you fail. (i think its 2 days, and you must be on a different career level)

Again: sorry for bad English.  :)
