Long-frozen wedding arch
« on: November 18, 2012, 02:19:13 PM »
I'm thinking this may have something to do with my Sims current inability to propose marriage (though probably not).  The wedding arch int he backyard is still frozen from a wedding that happened a generation ago.  It says it's still in use by the husband, Elmer.  He didn't move in.  I've reset him about twenty times to no avail.  I can't move or delete the object.  Ideas?

Testingcheats can delete it.

I've got then enabled, but it still says I can't interact with an object in use.  How do I get rid of it?

Shift click on it, then delete it.

I've had the same problem, and now I can't get anyone to marry in the lot, not even by proposing marriage away from the arch. Any ideas why my sims can't tie the know anymore??

Don't know why it happens but I could give yoive some advice on how to fix it: remove family out of the house, city house to bin, delete original, place copied house from bin back and place family back in. That way all possible connections with any sim at all and the house are lost.
But your family is still known to all sims in town since you aren't using a copied family.

My sims can't propose either, but it's not a problem with a connection between a sim and an object, it just happens. Fortunately, I don't care whether or not my sims marry, but wedding presents are nice.

I had the same approach.  It's fine if they're just living together.  But be warned, if you have late night installed, they will get bad reputations for having a child out of wedlock (so primeval!)

My sims don't care about their reputations. Potions make it all better.

Did you try deleting the arch as mentioned just above your post?

Yes, Pam, I did! The problem is not only with the wedding arch; I think the problem is more serious than that: I get my sims to propose marriage and then have them choose have a private wedding. The wedding happens, but the fianceé doesn't get the new family name and doesn't move into the new household.

I know I can just do what Leto85 suggested, but this is my Legacy family, and I don't know it that would be rule breaking or not.

Same!  This is my legacy family having the issue, and now marriage just seems to no longer be an option.

In which generation did this problem appear in your legacy Tilia? Mine was in gen. 4 when I had the wedding arch situation and it all went downhill for marriages from there. I even took my gen. 5 heir to Shang Simla and tried getting him married there, but the sama thing happened: wediing ok, but no new family name and the wife stayed in Shang Simla!

I don't want to start this all over again! I just love them sooooo much!!!
