Stones' Throw Venue: How do I build a greenhouse?
« on: November 17, 2012, 08:17:54 PM »
I bought the Stones' Throw venue yesterday. I don't really want to place the venue(don't even know how)but you're supposed to be able to build greenhouses with the glass roofs. My question is...how? I've never built a Sim house in my life(apart from a very boring shed with a very boring roof that led down into the basement). Do I just do as I did with the shed? Build a square wall, put tiles on it, then the glass roof? So confused!  I've wanted a greenhouse for ages, and with Seasons coming for me on Tuesday, I'll need a safe place for my plants.

The only way I can think of is to put the big three tile wide wall size windows all over the walls and then just don't put any roof on it an just pretend it's a glass roof.

I don't know of any way to do an actual glass roof.

The 'roof' pieces of the new venue are 3 x 6 , so to build a greenhouse, you will need your building to be some combination to use these pieces. The roof pieces are not actually true roof pieces, so you will not find them in the roof section. They are in decorations - roof decorations. You can put them straight on top of your walls without a roof, but be warned, rain and snow will still get in.
You might want to check out this thread about the venue http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,13278.0.html
In that thread there is also a link to a forum topic at the Sims3 site which explains how to make a building using the pieces that will not let the weather in.

It's too bad there isn't some clever way to put windows on a floor, like with some combination of cheats, moveobjects and what ever. I'd build a few green houses if we could do that.

What EA needs to do is make some glass floor/roof tiles. They would be a particularly welcome edition to us builders.

Which is exactly what they had in Sims2.  It was kind of creepy as a floor looking down through it but worked like a charm for a glass roof.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!
