Feelin' Germy!
« on: November 16, 2012, 07:07:48 PM »
I posted something about this in the First Impressions thread but I want to expand on it now that I've had more experience today.  I had at least 8 sims get that germy moodlet and I find it really confusing!  Adults who have it can call in sick to work and hang out at home till they feel better and all is well.  However, with kids and teens it's not so easy.  There is no way that i can find to have them call in sick to school or to have parents do so.  So far, I have had various reactions to them missing school.  Sometimes, the parents scold them for missing school.  Sometimes, no one cares and the student stays home.  Sometimes, a message pops up that says something like, "Thank you for being responsible and not sending a sick kid to school."  I have not found a pattern to this but I find the scolding really annoying!  Is anyone else having these random reactions?   Has anyone found a pattern to this?

You can send them to the hospital and get a flu shot for $200. It's good for one year. Unlike a real flu shot, you don't have to get it beforehand; you can wait until your sim gets the germy moodlet. Also, there's a reward called "Simmunity" that makes your sim immune to flu, allergies, and nausea. It's worth 7500 happiness points.

If you have a witch, it can be cured with the "sunlight charm". My witch was curing everyone in town that came near her, so she wouldn't get sick.

I'm currently in winter so I'll have to try that one out. I think it's a bug or glitch. Before it would happen that I couldn't send a grounded kid to school, what makes no sense at all. I suppose this is somewhat the same thing.

I was not able to send my germy kid for a flu shot nor could I take her. It didn't give me the flu shot option at all.

I think you can only get the flu shot in Fall or Winter - I've never been able to do so in Summer.  I haven't played a game long enough to get to Spring yet! lol

Thanks for the tips on how to get rid of the moodlet, MoMoll and MarianT.  I also suspect the problem is a bug, Sunnysabjes, like the grounded kids not going to school problem.  I just wondered if anyone else has had these problems or i was doing it wrong!   :)

My sims haven't gotten sick yet since I haven't been able to play seasons much. But I would assume the moodlet manager could get rid of your sickness if you have one.

My sim kids have been sick a few times, and I've kept them home from school each time. I haven't noticed a pattern, either. Once I got a pop-up saying thanks for keeping the sick kids at home, but most other times the mum scolds the kids for staying home  >:(. I haven't found a way for my teen to call in sick to her part time job, either.

I have to say ever since Generations the punishment system has really started to annoy me! I remember it was like this in the Sims 2. A pop-up would say "Uh oh, ______ seems to have gotten ______ best keep them in bed until it goes away!" Yet you could never call off sick for work or school. Now with Sims 3 they fixed the Adults problem but there's no option on the phone to call your child in sick.

My SimDad brought the germs into the house, infected one of the four children, she was very poorly and decided to stay off school, just to get scolded by SimMum, and then spent the day feeling Germy and Upset!  On top of that SimMum told her that she could making up for it by doing chores... SimDad spent his sick day watching the Shopping Channel on TV.

I didn't get the option to take the SimKid for a Flu shot, but as soon as she was done with the Germy it was Spring and she got Hayfever and was able to go to the hospital for a shot.  Poor hun has had a rough year :)

I was able to send my sim kid to hospital for a flu shot in fall and winter.  It is not available in summer.

I've sent my Sims about their normal business while they were Feelin' Germy. Other than the negative moodlet it doesn't seem to matter.

I wish Seasons came with a homemade solution for this, like the Grandma comfort soup from The Sims 2!
I too get them to do their chores, but I keep an eye on them so that whole families don't get contaminated.

I've made heavy use of the Lifetime Reward "Simunity" which takes care of Germy and Allergies.
