Cool off!

So yeah, I was happily playing Sims and testing around this fabulously long-awaited expansion. The first season I got (and probably everyone does) was Summer. It was going pretty well - though my Sims looked silly in jeans and long-sleeve shirts when it was 97 degrees - until I decided they should have a pool. It was just a test-round so I went ahead and threw down a pool with motherlode. I saw my Sim was heating up so I had her go swimming...
But she never cooled off.
Is it me or did I miss something? I always found swimming on a hot day would cool me off... Did I do something wrong? She swam all day until the sun went down (about 4-5 Sim hours) but she never fulfilled the wish to "cool off" nor did the "heat" moodlet go away.
Any thoughts?

When my sim got hot, I had the same idea. Go in the pool. And in my game they didn't cool off either. When I sent them inside, they cooled off. I think they need to go into the 'air conditioning' to be considered 'cooled off'

I don't have seasons (yet) downloading it right now. But I have noticed that in real life swimming in pool on hot day is useless. Water in pool is too warm to cool off (well even when temperature on lake gets close to 80F swimming does nothing but help spend time.

I agree. I live in a hot part of the country, and swimming in 100 degree weather doesn't do much to cool you off, whether it's in a pool or a lake. Sprinklers with 56 degree (F) well water works a bit.

I was able to get a sim cooled off by having her play in a sprinkler. The Sunset Valley festival grounds has one available during summer. I thought I *should have* been able to cool off by eating a snow cone, but it doesn't work.

The game lesson for temperature implies that changing into swimwear will help keep a sim cool, but who knows how effective that is.

Does swimming in the ocean help?

Not that I saw. I had to send my family that was swimming in the ocean indoors to get rid of the moodlet.  The parasol will also work, though, if you want to keep them outside.

What about the "ice blasting" spell. has anyone tried that? Think I will when i reopen the game. However, it seems to rain incesssantly! Thinking of downloading a mod to decrease the rain! It's SUMMER, not spring!

Thanks for all of the responses, I thought as much. I live in Indiana with moderate weather, though last summer it was always in the 90s to even 100 degrees and above. My pool outside is not heated nor underground but it kept me cool. I suppose after being out in the hot weather for days and days it would heat up to where it wouldn't help. My boyfriend made a comment that seeing as the heat directly effects sunburns in game it may have something to do with the water only helping to increase sunburns (as it does so in real life).
Just my thoughts on it, part of me wishes there were a few more ways to cool off now. Just going inside or opening a parasol seems very limited. I'll definitely look into sprinklers though (I usually don't get them unless I have a garden because I get sick of Sims autonomously going out there in between times when I queue up things). Maybe I'll do some tests on other things that can cool your Sim off... like those Slip-n-Slides they have.
