You have to plant outside and move the plants in regardless of if there's a floor or not (or my game is really weird that way).

You don't need to place lights, but if the moodlet bothers you, put some lights in.

So I have two things I can't figure out about the Stone's throw greenhouse.  First is, for the life of me, I can't find where the greenhouse windows are.  I finally found the roof pieces under roof decorations, but where are the windows?  I haven't been able to use them because I can find them!

Also, there are these little solar plants/lights that I don't know the name of.  Not the big grinning sunflowers, but these look like little stars, and they soak up light during the day and glow at night.  I'd love to put some in a fairy garden I'm building, but I don't know how to find those little plants/lights (whichever they are!) in build/buy.  Maybe I can only have them in the Stone's Throw Green house venue?     Or are they plants and I have to find their seeds?

The greenhouse windows are in Build --> Windows.

The closest fruits I can think of that match what you're describing are Life Fruits and Flame Fruits - both light up very prettily.  The sunflowers will periodically birth a sun that glows and gives a nice moodlet buff if you put them in the sims' inventory, plus the suns make great fertilizer (especially if used in the composter).

Thanks!  I did discover last night that what I was talking about was the "suns" that the sunflowers produce!

It's really wierd about the windows though.  They are NOT in my window section in build.  I don't know why!

The greenhouse windows are usually the first icon past the store specials.  It took me ages to find them too.  If they're not there it may pay to uninstall and reinstall the set.

I finally just gave up after all of the problems with my greenhouse.  Now that I've completed the upgrade to my computer, and had the subsequent problems repaired, I did a complete re-install of the game.  I also used the launcher to remove the Stone's Throw Greenhouse from my downloaded content.  I then uploaded it again using the correct provided by one of the Sim Gurus.  I should be golden, right?  Nope.  I still have the very same problems.  The flat roof doesn't disappear when I put the greenhouse roof over it.  And my plants to dormant inside the greenhouse just like they do outdoors in winter.  Have any new solutions come to light in my absence?

I finally got my greenhouse to work by making sure I had all the individual contents of the set uninstalled.  I found that I hadn't uninstalled the sunflower.  Once I fixed that, I used the simple wooden floor panel as the roof and it disappeared nicely.  No problem with dormancy in winter and fall anymore.

I had been using the flat roof found in the roofing section, so I deleted it and put the free simple flooring instead.  No change at all.  It didn't go transparent.  Do you mean you put the sunflower inside the greenhouse itself?  I have some, but they are in the yard a little away from the greenhouse.

No, I have the sunflower outside too.  I meant that when I tried the reinstall instructions, I found that I hadn't deleted that sunflower from my downloads as it was in a separate category.  You not only need to delete the venue, but all the pieces of the set in their various categories before reinstalling.  That's what I was doing wrong.
