If you put "moveobjects" on then you can plant straight inside using the plant action. You don't need to plant outside then move the plants inside.

Issues that have been addressed with the updated Greenhouse Venue:

Rain and snow will no longer fall into the Greenhouse Venue.
o   The Greenhouse Roof pieces now turn off the visibility of tiles in their footprint area. So if you are building your own Greenhouse, this will allow you to place down a flat roof, place the Greenhouse Roof pieces on top, and still be able to see into the room below.
o   Please note: if you do not place a flat roof down first, snow and rain will still get into your Greenhouse.

Plants will no longer go Dormant inside the Greenhouse Venue.
o   If you are building your own Greenhouse, make sure it meets all the requirements to flag it as a room (fully walled and fully roofed).
o   Outstanding issue: Some harvestable plants still get the frost texture even though they are not going dormant.  This is a bug that must be addressed by the Expansion Pack team, and they have a promising solution that they are testing right now.

Installation instructions for those that have already installed old Greenhouse:

1.   VERY IMPORTANT: using your Launcher, uninstall the old Greenhouse first

2.   Visit this page to download the updated Greenhouse: http://store.thesims3.com/setsProductDetails.html?productId=OFB-SIM3:58192 (your download should be 36.99MB)

3.   Install the new Greenhouse from your Launcher

4.   If you still have previously placed Greenhouses in your world, you will need to delete them and place down the new Greenhouse

5.   Enjoy!

Important Notes:

If you accidentally install the new Greenhouse without first uninstalling the old, there is a possibility that you will encounter various problems with your Greenhouse.  If this happens, please try the following to correct the issues:

1.   Uninstall both versions from your Launcher.

2.   Close your Launcher

3. Open your Launcher and verify that no Greenhouse content appears in your Installed Content Tab.  If none appears, install the new Greenhouse, skip the remaining steps, and enjoy! Otherwise, uninstall them again and close your Launcher once more.

4.   Open your Launcher and verify that no Greenhouse content appears in your Installed Content Tab.  If none appears, reinstall the new Greenhouse, skip the remaining steps and enjoy!

5.   If they are still appearing in the Installed Content Tab of your launcher or you are still having problems, you will need to delete your DCCache and DCBackup folders, typically located here: C:\Users\<yourusername>\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3.  Please note that this will DELETE ALL OF YOUR INSTALLED CONTENT! (If you have Store/downloadable worlds installed, there is the possibility that this could kill any of your save files that are in those worlds. Please make sure to back these up before deleting your DCCache and DCBackup folders to ensure you don’t lose your progress.)

6.   Reinstall the new Greenhouse and enjoy!

Seems to work well. The only issue still there, as they mentioned, is that some plants still have the frost texture. Doesn't really bother me too much, since they're still usable, but it's nice that they're working on it.

Definitely not regretting the purchase now.

There's something terribly wrong with my greenhouse venue.  It has no glass walls or ceiling.  In the winter, everything inside is covered with snow and the plants are dormant.  Any suggestions for me?

Pam - did you follow SimGuruCopeland's instructions and remember to uninstall the Greenhouse set before redownloading it?

It looks like you're missing all the windows like they're not installed at all. did you uninstall and not reinstall?  Everything that makes the venue the venue isn't there anymore.

No, I haven't heard anything about SimGuruCopeland's instructions.  I guess it's probably somewhere in this thread.  So, the whole venue is corrupted when you first start out unless you do this mess?

It's two posts above the post above your picture.  They updated the greenhouse roof pieces so they wouldn't show flat roof under neath them but you need to place flat roof if you build your own.    I just thought that you used those instructions and then placed it and that's what happened.  I didn't realize you hadn't tried it.   

My suggestion would be to uninstall the content - make sure it's not just the lot but the entire content package.  And then reinstall it to see if it gets any better.

I bought this greenhouse yesterday and installed it.  I wonder if I got the new version or the old version?  I guess the only way to find out is to try for some weather and see what happens.  I really do not want to uninstall it, though, because I went to a lot of trouble last night to stock it with all perfect plants, which was not easy feat!

Also, since it doesn't seem to allow you to plant on community lots still (annoying), I had to recatagorize it as residential, move my master gardner in and plant all the perfect plants, then move her back out and change it back to a community lot.  I noted it when I changed it to residential, it said some objects were only allowable for community lots and would be replaced.  Any idea what those were?  I didn't see much noticeable missing when I went back in.

Just thought I'd come back and edit this post to say when I tried the game last night, it looks like I do have the new version, because rain/snow didn't go in, and I didn't even have the arches (to be removed) as noted in the instructions on how to fix the problem.  So that's a relief!

Bought it today, works reasonably well. Two issues I'm having are the non-decorated moodlet (I have the floor as grass so I can plant things...), and the plants looking frosted even when they're fine. Having checked the sims 3 official forums the frosted thing is a known bug, no idea about the non-decorated moodlet.

I tried this three times now and while my Stones Throw Greenhouse works fine, any greenhouses I build on my lot don't.  I save before I built but after building, the game will not save.  The system crashes.  Also the sunflower plant has gone AWOL.  Help!

There's a known bug at the moment where the game crashes whilst saving after having built something - particularly a second floor. It can be fixed by evicting the family with their house, bulldozing the lot, and placing them down again.

As for the sunflower, are you looking in the right place? I had a lot of trouble finding the sunflower in my game, but eventually found it in Sort by Function > Decor > Plants.

Is that a bug with the greenhouse? Because I don't have the greenhouse store content, yet I seem to be having that bug (crashes while saving after building). Are you sure evicting and bulldozing will fix it?

No, it's a bug that came with...Seasons, I think? Or maybe the Seasons patch. I had it before I got the greenhouse set. I can't completely guarantee that evicting and bulldozing will fix it, but that's the temporary fix that's been proposed on the official forums, and it's worked for me a few times. It only works for that lot, though - the bug can still occur in other save files. What I've started doing is saving before I build, then building something small (eg a single piece of wall) and trying to save. Then if it crashes I haven't lost anything, and I can fix it before building properly.

Hello,

I have the updated Greenhouse Venue and I'm trying to build a greenhouse on my home lot. I've got the roof correctly put together (flat roof underneath) and I've built four walls and painted them inside and out and then put the greenhouse windows on and a set of doors to get inside. I know I'll have to have moveobjects on in order to plant directly inside, but I was wondering if there is a way to get rid of the Unfinished Room moodlet?
