Anyone not played winter?
« on: November 14, 2012, 07:23:37 AM »
It seems that everyone is playing winter, just doing a quick glance at the other seasons.

I am hoping that there is somenone liike me that HATES  winter.  Dark, depressing, dreary, depressing, cold, depressing, damp, depressing; did I mention that I find winter time depressing?

I will admit that a lot it is due to having SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), lack of sunlight affects my mood - so, that means I fight depression more often, months here of Nov through Feb-March are, well, depressing for me.    :'(   :(   :'(

Please, has someone played the other seasons enough to give a good idea of what it is like then?  Spring, I LOVE spring, my favorite time of the year, bright, sunny, warm, sunny, inviting, sunny, clear skies; I don't even care when it rains, it make me feels so much better.

I know that there are special lamps to use for that time of the year, but they are expensive, and we just can't afford to buy any, especially right now.  I'm not working, so income is sadly lacking.

So, Spring, Summer, anyone, some info of those seasons?

Carl has the guide for Summer up already.   I've only played Summer & Fall so far myself.

I'll be playing all four seasons as soon as I pick up my copy tomorrow. Winter's gonna be my favourite, though - sorry ^^. Put it down to living somewhere that never snows. If I lived somewhere freezing cold and snowy no doubt I'd get sick of winter soon enough.

I'm still in summer, because I'm playing long games, but I am not looking forward to Winter.  Like you, I despise it - though that may have something to do with the years I spent in Buffalo plowing snow for 24 hours straight at a senior citizen housing unit.

But, the Summer Faire has been a lot of fun so far.

I've played winter, but I'm playing spring now, my Sim got a kiss at the kissing booth, I wrecked havoc at the festival with her alien spaceship. She found eggs with earned her festival tickets and she roller skated, she got her face painted. I must admit though Winter in the game is beautiful, you can ever set it where it doesn't snow, I can't wait to play Fall and Summer.
We are of peace, always but this is war.
We are of peace, always.
We'll help build a resistance. We have to fight.

When all you've ever loved has been stolen from you, sometimes all you have left is revenge.
For the truly wronged, satisfaction can be found in one of two places,  absolute forgiveness or mortal vindication. This is not a story about forgiveness. When deception cuts this deep, someone has to pay.

In real life I get tired of snow and cold, but in the game it looks gorgeous, so I imagine I'll play it, right after fall!  (I can't wait to see how fall looks in Moonlight Falls!)

But I also like playing in Sunlight Tides, and I won't do winter at all there.  Doesn't make sense for me in a tropical island (though I might have to try it once just out of curiosity!)

Got to play only for a short time, and only got to try summer in my favorite world ever (Union Cove).
There is a lot to do and enjoy in this season, Carl already covered it in guide and I had a great time with my simself and other familiar Sims gathering on Festival, swimming and my favorite so far - wildflowers! Got 7 or 8 of them in first 10 minutes of playing! and fireworks are interesting from town view while I am jet to collect enough tickets to get the soccer goal to play with! Not liking the idea of food contest but even that looks interesting in a way.
Swiming in the sea is finnaly there, and got to enjoy it at last! Not just my controllable Sim but also other townies were walking down the beach and swimming! Glad I made that beach having that in mind as a possibility one day :P

I hate winter in RL too, I don't deal well with cold, probably poor circulation - so I ache in my hands and feet for a few/several months a year. In game I've only done summer so far, I remember in Sims 2 winter would annoy me just because sims who went outside for like two seconds to bring in the paper would change into their full outdoor clothes and then change back and it drove me up the wall, haha. I quite like the snow cones for summer though and my girls have got one in their kitchen. But generally I'll just have the seasons on a rotating cycle of a decent length and play them through, I suspect, same way I do the moon cycle.

Winter in NZ is much like Summer - while we won't be on the beach with the Rugby Ball (basically my entire Christmas minus the Chicken, parties, and festivities at home), we will be doing much the same stuff, so of course I played in Snow straight away. :P Fall looks to be the worst season, I don't like rain. It's too bleak for me.

At least you can turn the rain off though!  I've decided to turn off hail as it tears up all of umbrellas.

I like fall, it is my second favorite season.  The temps are just right, good enough to sit out and enjoy the colors of the trees, build a fire in the fire pit and relax with a cup of tea.

I can sit on the back patio look out at the hills and see a wide range of colors, bronze, gold, oranges, tans, yellows and the greens from the evergreens mixed in.  I love it.
I'm not wild about the rain, especially when it pours and knocks off the leaves early, but we have such quick showers, then at times rainbows, it is almost worth it.  Last year, I think it was fall, or spring, we had double rainbows, it was really nice to look at.

I had planned on my sims to get up early to weed, do a last harvest and tear down the house to build the restrooms for the community garden.   Then there was a thunderstorm, poured all night, big puddles, LOL
Fortunately, it cleared up before noon and they finished around 4:00.
So far enjoying the weather aspect, the fair doesn't seem to be too bad, not that many were on at the park, except Beau Andrews as a fairy and he was knocking everyone down in the skating rink as he flew around.

Am looking forward to seeing what fall is like.

Also, if you have testingcheats on, you can shift/left click and will also give you an option for temp, change the season, rain, fog, hail and snow, without going to options.
