Well, the abducted moodlet had 2hours game time to go, so it was really only minutes on my end. And I would mostly FF through the next 24hours game time to see if it popped before quitting and restarting. My game doesn't load too fast but it's not so slow that it was much of a bother. Like I said, I was giving up when it finally happened! Sometime after the abduction I heard a loud noise and couldn't figure out what it was, it was only hours later (real time) I finally noticed a large space rock inside the house and the noise must have been it falling. How it landed there without damaging the house, I've no clue. So far alien baby has been very fussy compared to the Sim who had her was. Thankfully there are 4 adult sims in the house to look after her. She just aged up to toddle, didn't snap a photo before quitting last night but she looks exactly like all the other alien babies. Now the grandfather wants to befriend an alien and the grandmother wants to *ahem* woohoo with one. Ahh, the sims. ;)

You have to have seasons to have aliens, but as for the weather you can chose to have or not have certain ones, how long they last, temps and other stuff.
I play mine with rain and hail off, turned winter off but have it back on for I think five days, maybe less.  Fall only three I think, summer the max number (don't remember the amount) and I think I have spring on seven days, not sure.
I keep the temps at 75 for spring and summer, not sure of fall or winter, I am still playing around with number of days, temps and such to find the one that I really like and plan to keep.
Hated the rain, it was nonstop and interfered with having fun and too much negative aspect, sims not liking to get soaked.  Same with winter, not into letting my sims freeze to death so don't let the temps go below 50.
You can pick snow levels, if you have kids and want them to have the three days on the honor roll, just set it to low levels, then school won't be cancelled.   On weekends you can set it to high levels so the kids can have fun building snowmen and igloos.

I play my sims on longer lifespan than the normal is, so you can set it for what works for you.
But whether you play on normal lifespans, extended, epic or whatever you can chose what seasons you want or don't want, the type of weather, temps, snow levels and more.  So, don't let that keep you from buying the expansion pack.

I finally got an alien nooboo from a male abduction.

My Sim Aeron Cai was in Bridgeport to learn Mixology and got abducted.  I waited out the 'probed' moodlet, saved at 2 hours before moodlet ran out and got the 'weight gain' one first up!  Score!!!

Aeron with weight gain

Aeron in labour

Aeron with nooboo Suas-Xiao Cai.

As it happens, Suas-Xiao's mother is not the alien who abducted Aeron.  The alien doing the abduction was called Ituxi Yoth, but Suas-Xiao's mother is listed as 'Sapeha Polination Technician'.

I don't like bald children so I put hair on Suas-Xiao.  I couldn't resist this one - Suas-Xiao in a TARDIS sleepwear.  ::)

She's so cute! Thanks for sharing this. I've been trying to get my Sim abducted for a few Sim weeks.

She's adorable! I lost my alien  and her son when I did something stupid and tried to move just one family member to a new town, they were not living with the rest of the family at the time but it still wiped out everyone but the one moving. Have fun with her!

Is the alien abducting has any connection with game save?

Example: I play an old save where they didn't have season yet. Then I installed season. But in this game save, even when I keep on using a 'search galaxy' or 'stargaze' option on a telescope, still no alien kidnapping my sim. (PS: my garden already have 2 giant size meteor, 3 medium size, 4 tiny size, and 2 moonstone)

could it be like that? coz' honestly I've been trying to get my sim abducted all this time but still failing miserably

The thing with aliens, it is totally random.  I know it used to be that you had a higher chance of being abducted by having at least 6 space rocks, be star gazing and have logic over five.  Less than that and it was rare to see one.

But after the patch I had them show up and even kidnap my male sim and impregnate him and I had no rocks and he wasn't star gazing, he came out of the house and was taken.  I don't remember what his logic was.  Another one was a thief and he was coming home from work, no rocks, low logic and no stargazing ever but he was taken and became pregnant.  One and only time an alien showed up.

You can go for a long time and not see one, and then all of a sudden have them dropping by every night for a week.  That happened with me; no aliens until the kids reached teen then they started to show up every night for over a week.  They took the female, couple of nights later one the males and that was it.  They didn't come back any more.  And he wasn't pregnant, bummer.

Just be patient, I'm not sure if the new patch slowed down how often they showed up, several simmers stated they had them show up enough to be a bother.

It is just patience; and maybe even crossing your fingers and toes.   ;)

If that is true, it sure sucks! I've had my Sim outside nightly on the telescope with pockets filled with space rocks and nothing is happening. Is there a way to cheat and trigger a ship to appear?

@smaurine82:

If you want to do it without cheats, you can always check your map view between 12-3am.  Sometimes aliens will visit a townie house or a beach, in the map view you will see a shimmering rainbow cloud where the alien is.

If you just want the spaceship, you can always use buydebug cheat and buy the spaceship.

If you want an alien in your household, you could try this out.  This post is by a fellow simmer, I have not tried that personally, but I think it works.

For the frustrated ones who have yet to encounter any aliens, this is a surefire way to get an alien in your household using the 'Make me know everyone' cheat:
- Assuming you don't want any of your current sims to actually know everyone, go to Edit Town and add any sim to your household
- Using the newly created sim, select the 'Make me know everyone' cheat at the mailbox (via testingcheatsenabled true)
- Next, scroll along your Friends list and you will spot at least a few aliens. Select an alien from the list and you can Invite Over any desired alien
- After the alien arrives, you can either 1)Shift-click him and Add to current household 2)Have a high relationship with the alien and the 'Ask to move in' option in Friendly interactions will appear
- Remove the sim who 'Knows everyone' if desired

I've solved my own problem by downloading aliens from this forum  ;D

Good idea to share your aliens. Maybe I'll do too when I find one  ;)

Thank you for your thoughts and advice. I am trying to get my male Sim pregnant via an abduction. So my question is, if I see the light at night in town, if my Sim goes to the light, he will likely be abducted?

Unfortunately no.  For abduction, you just have to do it the old fashioned way -- have high logic skill, use the telescope a lot, have space rocks & moonstones in your inventory and around your house, and wait.  Also make sure your male sim is human, occult male sim can't get impregnated by aliens.

It can't hurt and could be of help to have all of that.  I had two sims abducted and impregnated and no rock, no telescope, no rocks or moonstones in inventory.  One was being "seeded" for a town (I was getting sims pregnant in the town for project) and the last thing I wanted was to have a male sim pregnant, but unfortunately, as he was walking toward the house he was taken.
The other one ran outside and was taken, just a regular game, but I wasn't wanting him to become pregnant.

I don't know how often that  happens, this was after the patch, so I don't know if that changed things around in what you need or don't need for an alien abduction.

Good luck in getting an abduction, though, they can have the cutest babies.

Thanks for the advice about the moonstone. I hadn't heard that one. I think I need to increase his logic skill as well. I really want an alien baby for story-telling purposes, and because I've never played an alien in The Sims 3. Can you believe that? They sound so awesome. At some point, I might just cheat and use master controller to inseminate my Sim, but I will keep trying the "legit" way for a while longer.

Do you need your Sims inside or asleep between 12 & 3 AM to have an alien visit your lot?

I made a night owl Sim that sleeps during the day and Stargazes at night, and he hasn't met an alien yet. I'd like to make sure I'm not making it impossible for them to show up because I'm always out stargazing from midnight to 3 AM.
