Cheezey where you live? (Country). I don't think they have ever closed the school in Finland. You can always walk to school  ;) maybe that is one reason why according British study Finland has best education (not many day offs). Even it's not always so fun walking to school in heavy snowfall...

I live in the US, in West Virginia.  It's rural and in the mountains, so a bad snow storm can easily shut things down for a day or two while the roads are cleared, especially back roads.

I find I like the snow in The Sims 3 better than I do in real life. I don't have to shovel it there!

The snow is incredibly beautiful <3 Especially since I don't live in an area that gets snow, haha. I live vicariously through my sims ^_^

I am married to a W. V hillbilly.  I get to get by with calling him that as he calls me a worthless nut  ;D  I am from Ohio and we live there now, on the border of Oh, WV and KY.

I don't know where you live, but it can snow a lot in this area in the hills, but after traveling through Beckley one winter I can imagine you get double if not more of what we see here in my home area.

In the game we get to see the clear white snow, not snow that is a horrible shade of grey from the factories that are still here and trains going through; and slush that is nasty looking from the traffic.  And like you said, we don't have to shovel it.  YEAH!

So it makes it a lot more enjoyable than what I experience here, along with the lack of sunshine.

I live in Finland and we really don't get that much snow. It is white in some areas but we have that nasty looking lush too. In last 4-5 years we have started to have more snow, I remember when I moved to capital area 12 years ago I suffered of lack of snow for years (for me Christmas is not real if there is no snow) but last 3-4 years coastal area has had lot more snow than before, but it's always snowed several days/weeks instead of 1 day. But when there is more snowing traveling gets more difficult but you still have to go to work.

I love sims winter as it is close to what I have and had when I was kid apart my winter is darker (main reason I love snow is that it adds light and it won't be so dark anymore).

I just got my seasons too and it stayed at 50% for around 30 minutes and jumped up to 100%...

I can't play UC at all with it because of lag, so now I have to play tiny worlds like Starlight Shores.

I am definitely having a hate/love relationship, (oh dear heaven let's NOT talk about the new online dating relationship mess!), with this EP.  First of all I absolutely loved winter except when it rained.  I loved summer except when it rained, (all darned day and night!), just when you were having fun at the festival or trying to get that last needed opportunity, (Omificent something or other for omni plants), before Autumn and dormancy hit.  And speaking of being dormant....what's up with still having to weed and water ankle deep in snow?  Don't like that much at all, especially since the weather is usually nasty.

If you are playing a dynasty you can't go into tce and change the weather.  It's a big nono to use cheats, so here you are trying to fish, or garden, or whatever and along comes the worst storm in forever and it NEVER stops!  Or just feels like it.  I would definitely move if the weather where I lived was like this.  Mind you, I live in Oregon.  You know the state where they know you're from Oregon because of the moss on your back, (from all the rain)?  We literally have rain here at least 9 months of the year.  But not those horrendous, pouring down whoppers with thunder and lightening.  Here, from mid-September until late June early July, you can expect grey skies and rain pretty much every day.  A sweet, gentle, make this state green from a soft rain that everyone ignores.  Oregonians carry umbrellas.  Under their arms when it's raining because it seldom rains hard enough!  But in Seasons you get downpours.  Summer is too hot, Autumn is too cold, Spring is too cool and nothing grows except weeds, but Winter, aaaaahhhh, Winter is glorious.

Aliens?  Ok, I guess they are cool.  To me they are just annoying.

Relationship stuff, love letters etc.  EVERYONE wants to hit on my Sim!  I hate it.  I hate the notes, the constant interuptive calls, the "gifts" I never wanted to begin with, and the lying and cheating going on.  That part alone ruins it for me.  It makes it seem like all Sims are sex mad, immoral, losers.

But the winters........so far I haven't uninstalled it because:

1.  pumpkins and pumpkin pie

2.  Festival Park

3.  Winter

The rest you can keep.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

Joria, I had to laugh when I read your post!  The reason it made me laugh (aside from that dry type of wit that you do so well) was that it pretty much summed up my own impressions of Seasons, which is why I uninstalled it after a few days of playing.  I like to play Sims that live outdoors and/or spend a lot of time outdoors, and personally I love the way the weather is always perfect in Sims, so adding inclement weather doesn't add benefit to the game for me.  And living in Saskatchewan, I get my fill of snow and winter at least half the year, so seeing snow in the game isn't much of an attraction either.  If Seasons had brought any new skills or jobs, I might have kept it, but really there was nothing in it I could see to make me want to put up with the negatives.

Joria - just so you know, if you build a greenhouse then you can garden all year round without worrying about dormancy.   A greenhouse is basically a room where you used moveObjects on to plant or place plants inside & under the roof.   Then at least you get something from all the watering and weeding.

Due to being busy since the holidays, my copy of Seasons had been sitting in its box unopened until I finally got excited about the Sims again a few days before University Life came out.  So, I installed it and played around for a bit before getting UL, but my opinions are pretty much the same as Joria's.

It rains.  All.  The.  Time.

I tried the gardening indoors thing, but I'm using the indoor planters, so I still get dormant plants the first day of planting.  After 5am the next day, I can work with them as usual, but it's still annoying to have to wait.  I don't know if using the cheat vs the planters would make a difference.

So far I've kept it because I love getting new buy/build objects and most especially, harvestables like the pumpkin, but I'm thinking of just disabling the inclement weather and making fall and spring REALLY short.  :D  I like playing outdoorsy sims in general and my favorite world is Sunlit Tides, so it just looks strange most of the time now!  I already had to turn the lunar cycle off because of the zombie problem, and my island world just doesn't look the same any more.

You don't need to use cheats to get rid of the rain, just go into the weather options. Unless I imagined it, you can just turn off any type of weather you don't want in there.

True, but then what's the point of Seasons?  I turned off all the Seasons in options and kept the pumpkins but I'd just as soon had gotten those as store items.

Seasons COULD be really fine if the inclement weather wasn't so pervasive.  Let's face it you're going to get bad weather on occasion no matter where you live.  It's just going to be different kinds of bad weather depending on where you are.  You live in Sakatchewan you don't want to see more snow.  You live in Oregon and rain is a way of life but not downpours and not constant.  (It mostly rains conveniently at night here.)  I think it would have been better had they toned it down just a bit especially to match the season you're in.  Summer time and constant downpours?  I don't think so!  Winter with lots of snow?  Sure.  Spring with more rain than you want?  Also sure, ("April showers brings May flowers"), but make them more like showers and not a hurricane.  A bit more rain and maybe a bit harder in the fall, sure.  Just a tad of moderation would have made this awesome.

You seemed to like everything but the rain about Seasons, so I offered a solution. It sounded like you were looking for one that didn't involve cheats, but if you were just generally grumbling about the way they implemented weather then that's fine :-)

I love winter season in the game, but is sick and tires of all the snow in real life.

The festivals aren't as fun as I though they would be, but maybe I'm playing them wrong.

The aliens are awsome, and the abduction-male pregnancy-alien baby was something I missed from TS2.
