Hi All,
I was having problems with map tags in Riverview. SunsetValley and Twinbrooks work fine. So I opened the launcher, went to installed content, put a check in "run without custom content".

Started one of my games and it says-"MISSING OBJECTS WARNING! Some objects could not be loaded and were replaced.

I quit game without saving. All my games say this now. Have not saved any after this warning. I have noticed that none of my downloaded stuff from the store are now not showing up in any of my games. These are purchased sets with nothing downloaded from the exchange or any mods.

They all worked fine prior to me clicking on "run without custom content"

I have reinstalled all of my downloads and it keeps coming up stating that they are already installed successfully, yet when I go to play any of my saved games I still get the Missing Objects Warning.
None of purchased content shows up in my games or the free stuff like Goal, Explorers Loot Ultimate career bundle.etc..
I have Sims3, World Adventures, HighEnd Loft and Ambitions with all the patches.

All my downloads are in the folder EA,The Sims, Downloads. I deleted the cache files but did not solve the problem. I am on a Mac.

Does anyone have any ideas how to get my installed downloaded content to work in my games-they are not there when I go into build and buy etc. Launcher shows that they are downloaded and installed successfully.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

You are using a Mac? Hmmm, too bad. Maybe under Windows I could help you.
But still, ... I thought Metropolis Man is using a Mac too. I recommend you to PM him about this, if he doesn't find this topic himself. He maybe can help you with this.

Besides that, all that rest me to say is: welcome to the forum! :D

Silly question:  Did you later uncheck "run without custom content" so your installed custom content would work again?

I seem to remember this often happening in the original Sims game just after a patch or an expansion.  I always played a bit, saved, then when I reloaded everything was back.  But that was years ago and on a PC.

Thanks very much--and yes I am on a MAC.
No such thing as a silly question!!
Yes I did go back to the launcher and it was already unchecked-sure wish it was that easy.
Even creating a new game did not install all my purchased items back into the game...
I am at a complete loss....
Now to figure out how to send a PM to Metropolis Man
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks again

Hi Jancy and welcome to our Forum!

Metro is on vacation for the next few days, so he won't be able to get any messages until he returns.  However, I may be able to help you because I don't think it's a Mac-specific issue.  I had the same thing happen with my Store items being installed, but not showing up in the game.  I didn't get the same warning message that you got, though.  I tried reinstalling the entire game and it didn't help.  I wrote to EA and they told me to reinstall just Ambitions.  I did and when I installed my Store items again, they showed up in the game like they are supposed to!

So, I suggest that you reinstall just Ambitions.  The instructions on our Technical Help board are for Windows.  Here also is a link on how to uninstall Sims 3 on a Mac.  Perhaps between the two of these pages, you can get it figured out.

Thanks so much Pam and others I really appreciate the help.

I was actually thinking the same thing about reinstalling just Ambitions (not sure how though) because I noticed when I actually removed an installed item (this time correctly and just the one from the launcher) I uninstalled it from the launcher, then I went into my accounts and tried to reinstall that particular one - I noticed that a temporary icon that popped up on my dock was the square when trying to install ,when I hovered over it, it said world adventure, very strange. The one that stays on the dock is the Ambitions one (round)  Before this problem when I installed purchased content and the little icon would pop up briefly during the install-it would be the round one which is ambition. Hope I make at least a bit of sense here!!!

I do have a backup on my time machine which is from June 4-before the patch and Ambitions where installed-but I really don't know how to restore from there either.
I would hate to have to uninstall all my sims - sims3, W A, High End Loft and ambitions - It really would be great to try just ambitions first. Hopefully I can find a way to do just that.

Just looked at the links you posted but I am still not sure on how to uninstall just ambitions.

Thanks again and any other thoughts on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sure we have other Mac users around, but if all else fails, Metro will be back probably Thursday.  He has a Mac and has done several reinstalls of the game.  He should be able to help.  :)

In the mean time this is the response I received from EA:

Greetings,

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.

I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.I am also sorry for delayed response due to high volume of incoming issues.I know how frustrating it is.I would like to suggest you to uninstall your game then Reinstall it to remove corrupt files form your game :

Can you also please try uninstalling the game and reinstalling it under a different MAC admin account.
1) Delete the "[Sims 3]" icon from your Applications folder.
2) Delete the additional files can found in /Users/[Username]/Library/Preferences/[Sims 3] Preferences/p_drive, including your saved games.

Creating a new user account:
1) Click on the Apple Menu select System Preferences.
2) From the View menu, select Accounts.
3) You may need to click the Padlock icon to allow changes.
4) Click the + icon to create a new account.
5) Log into the new user account and reinstall the game.

If you have any other issues then please feel free to contact us again.

Thank You,

Amrit

I am really hoping I do not have to go through all this?  Can't wait for Metro to get back home  ;D  Hopefully he'll have an easier fix.
Thanks

Hi Jancy: Pam brought this to my attention yesterday when I returned and I apologize for not responding earlier. Kind of spaced out on this one (one of the benefits of being a Mac user, eh? Very few tech problems :)). Anyway, I have no experience with purchasing any of the custom sets from the Exchange, so I can't help you there. However, I do remember while playing a recent walkthrough character that I did get that "Missing Objects" notification. I had never seen it before, so I just continued to play the file normally including saving it after the game replaced the objects and have not seen the notice again.

As far as EA's recommendation to switch user accounts, that really seems unnecessary to me and completely overkill. A simple wipe and reinstall fixes almost any problem I've ever had — and like I said, those are few and far between.

Thanks for replying -I really appreciate it-- Is there any specific way to uninstall and reinstall on a Mac,  I never have -  I've been a PC user for so long and I'm really not use to the easiness of a MAC.
I did go into may games and all my furnishings and clothing and stuff I used like fences etc have all been changed.
Is it possible to just uninstall Ambitions and try that first?  If so I haven't a clue on how to do it?  I am in the dark here.
When I go to finder applications The sims,  all I see there for uninstall is - the sims 3 uninstaller.app - That is the only one that says Uninstall.
Will that remove all? Is it possible also to just reinstall Ambitions without doing an uninstall?

I must sound so stupid but I really am not so tech savvy with the mac.

If I have to uninstall and reinstall all-do I just put in my saved game folder back into Documents, The Sims, Saves?

Also I do have a whole backup restore copy before Ambitions and patch was installed on my time machine?  Could I put that back and just install Ambitions? Then install TwinRivers then put in my saved games?  Hope I don't sound so confusing here???

I really appreciate the help.

Hope you had a great vacation.

Thanks Pam for bring this to Metro's attention

Yeah, from the instructions I've seen Pam type out for PC users, a total wipe/reinstall is quite a bit easier on a Mac.

1. Back Up Users > Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Saves. I copy it to the desktop, then trash the original.
2. Trash Applications > The Sims 3
3. Trash Users > Library > Preferences > Sims 3 & the 4 Transgaming preference files

Reinstall everything in order. Patch up if necessary and replace the Save folder.

Oh, good grief!  No wonder you don't complain about doing a complete reinstall!

Heh. Yeah, it's pretty simple. I can still think of a lot of other things I'd rather do in an hour's time though. But, it does keep things tidy.

OH MY seems like it's going to be a long night!!!!!
When you say trash-do you mean just grab the folder and dump it into the trash can??
Basically trash everything sims except my back up?
Then install sims 1 Do I open it and try it to make sure it works and look for updates on the launcher  or just install sims 1 then right after install World adventure, then High End lofts  then Ambitions-am I not trying each one after install? How about River View? When do I do that?
After all is done(hopefully) Do I then go back and redownload all my stuff from sims site or just use the folder downloads that I already have?
Told you I haven't a clue  ;)

Thanks so much for helping me

Also should I stop my wireless from connecting while this is going on so as not to update during install(if that's what I'm supposed to do)
