There are also Greenhouse Windows (in buy build mode) that only cost $10.

Which section are they in?

They're in build mode, right with the other windows. Due to their cheapness, they're the first thing in the catalogue (unless EA has made even cheaper windows).

Well, my plants in the greenhouse made it through Fall, but with winter and the first snowfall, half of them are dormant.  I made the building without floor or foundation, put a flat roof on it, put greenhouse windows and roof pieces on.  It should be fine from what I've learned from you all, but it's not.  Any other thoughts?

I just tried this concept without using a greenhouse. Right now I really can't afford to buy the greenhouse so what I did was build the walls and covered them and put a flat roof on and put windows in all the way around and no flooring. It worked!

Pam, I'm wondering when you got the greenhouse, was it when it was first released and have you since uninstalled and redownloaded to patch it to the fixed version?

I got mine after the fix was done but from what I read those who purchased it before then would need to download it again. The newer version fixes both the roof problem, dormant plants and snowing inside the building, from what you have said it sounds like you still have the buggy version.

I originally got it when it first came out, but never built my own greenhouse or anything.  Then in these last couple of days, I realized it wasn't in my game anymore and downloaded it again from the Store.

Only thing that springs to mind at present is ensuring that the dormant plants weren't planted in winter. Shouldn't need a floor or a foundation, as my current greenhouse is floorless.

No, they weren't planted in winter.  They're the ones I moved into the greenhouse during fall when everything was still growing fine.  I only sprayed on the dirt terrain paint and live with the unfinished moodlet.  It's not going to be a crisis or anything, really.  I'm close achieving the Alchemy Artisan LTW and that's all I need to do with this file.  My Sim can easily do it without any further gardening.  I hope so, anyway!  I'm on the verge of updating my computer and then I'll install 70s, 80s, 90s and University Life.  I'll probably do a re-install of the entire game, actually.  If I'm lucky, maybe it will help my green house issue.

I appreciate all of you for helping me with this.  :)

There is an an acknowledged graphic bug with the greenhouse right now that plants will look dormant but will still grow and be available for harvesting.  Might this be the case?

Will they say dormant when I click on them?

When you hover over them, they will say Dormant in the tooltip, but unlike truly Dormant plants they will still progress and be harvestable.

I think I remember greenhouses on TS2, but nothing like it in TS3. Anyways, I had an outdoor hating sim move in with mine...only to find out that he was also a green thumb. I didn't even think it was possible to have that kind of trait combination on a sim. So....how is this green thumb going to garden if he's hating life every time he steps outside, and is getting constant wishes to stay inside?

Besides the greenhouse, you can also plant a garden in your basement UNDER your house.  Just put the plants in the ground there.  I use the big fish/aquarium window thing, (sorry, can't remember the name), OR put "pools" on the outside of the house with windows in the basement wall and pool wall to bring in external light.  The "pools" only need to be one square wide and can be a nice landscaping feature especially if you add fountains to them.  You will get the unfinished room moodlet but you can have quite a nice in house garden for your outdoor hating Sim this way and you don't have to buy the greenhouse to do it.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

Pam, the greenhouse venue was re-released with fixes a few weeks after its original offering. If you want everything to work properly, you'll need to download it again from your purchase history. Reinstalling a venue with premium content is tricky, so you might want to do a complete reinstall of all Store purchases after deleting all your cache files.
