Omni Plant "Gifts" in Sims' Inventory

Several of my Sims have these in their inventory, but they are not interactive.  I have no idea where they came from or what to do with them.  Thoughts?

I'd love to get an omni plant as a gift! just the seed would go nicely.  You get the seeds as a reward for completeing a gardening challenge which does not seem to be coming up for my current sim.

You can feed the omni plant with a wide variety of items from your inventory.  It will then reproduce that item several times.  So, if you feed it perfect deathfish, it will produce several more perfect deathfish.  Or, use it to make money by feeding it a very expensive book.
Or, with one plant you can rotate the feed items to maintain your stock of fish and harvestables without having to grow a lot of individual plants.

I don't have the option to plant it, though.  It is just a gift box that doesn't respond to clicking and says "omni plant" on it.

This is a glitch. TWALLEN has a mod called Debugenabler that will let you delete the package from your inventory. I've been lucky so far and not had any this time around.

I just got one of those gift boxes too.  My couple went to China and when they came back, my girl sim had one in her inventory.  No interactions, so not exactly sure where it came from.

I've been getting them in the mailbox as gifts from friends. I get gifts everyday in the mail and they go into my family inventory except when the omni plant gift shows up and it goes in my regular inventory. I've been having to use Master Controller to get rid of them.

For the others: I really hope you guys know a solution for this. After my sims has ordered Omni Plants they came, as you can see, in a package. A package he couldn't open and seems to be stuck forever now in his inventory. To make it worse, there are two packages and they both do not responce.

Omni plants being received as gifts and getting stuck in Sim's inventory is actually a known bug from patch 1.42. 

There is already a topic about it so I'm going to be merging the two.

I've got about six straight rows of these suckers now in my inventory and I really don't want to install a mod.  ugh.  annoying.

When you have the mod installed, you can just transfer the omni plant packages from the sims inventory back into the mailbox.  It works great, plus I have been getting pieces of mail in the sims inventory too.  I was never a big mod person, but if they keep piling up in the inventory, it is eventually going to glitch out.
