Ready or not, here I come! (Gnomes)
« on: June 20, 2010, 11:48:34 PM »
I got two, lovely little French gnomes.  One was placed in the garden near McNulty, the other in the living room to watch tv.  I saw the one in the living room go poof but paid little attention other than a chuckle.  Later on I saw this one:

I laughed and wondered if he could be playing hide and go seek.  I looked around for the other gnome and no, he was no longer by McNulty.  He was hiding!  Here:

It totally cracked me up.  These guys play games with one another.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

I had to put my last gnome in my inventory, they are all gone, vanished, poof.  I had four different ones and then a bunch of the regular ones that I decorate my garden with.  One by one, they have all gone away.

Those are cute pictures.

I placed three and watched them sparkle and vanish later that night. Have not seen them since and it has been a few sim days already. I even look in the fridge and my sims' inventories for them with no luck. I'm a sad camper.

Somewhere there is a land where gnomes run free.  LOL.

well if you have an inventor Sim and you build the mining machine then dig a hole, you get the chance to go on adventures in your mining holes.... I've discovered a 'little gnome village' under ground on one of these adventures.

So they don't vanish... they just go home ;)

That being said as your gnomes fixed anything before?  or cleaned things?  I had a pair of slobby Sims who let their bathroom get gross, in the middle of the night (when all was asleep) I had the "something just broke" music and I found the toilet was plugged... but really clean, and a gnome sitting next to it.   I'm sure he cleaned my toilet, but plugged it as well.  (I can't see my slobs cleaning the toilet, no other explanation except the gnome did it!)

:D

I have heard they finish inventions up to 99%, but mine go away pretty much a couple of nights after I get them.

Somewhere, under my garden,
Live gnomes lie.
That's a land, that I heard of,
Once in a lullabye.

Forgive me Judy Garland!  I just couldn't face thinking of my gnomies disappearing forever!  Sniff, sniff.  So far 9 of them came and then vanished.  I wonder, if you put them in family inventory do they hang around in there or still just poof?  I do like catching the sparkling departure though.

OOOOOOh, maybe EA is thinking of making a gnomish EP!

Maybe  because they've stolen all the underwear?

1.  Stage 1  Steal Underwear.
2.  Stage 2  ???   (now explained, they live with Sims and frolic on the properties)
3.  Stage 3  Profit!!!

I noticed this after I installed Ambitions...

Had over 8 laundry gnomes, one leon, a sculpted gnome, and a couple dozen inventing gnomes and regular gnomes.  After a while, they just poof.  But if you move and mark the option to take your furniture with you, they will pop up in your inventory when you get to your new house.

Just another rotten bug about one of my favorite parts of the game.... *sigh*

I'm not sure if they poof or if they are in a place where they can't easily be seen.  One of my gnomes hid in the clay block that was being sculpted.  I saw the pointy little hat and wondered what it was, not really thinking clearly about it.  And then when I finished it, there he was, standing on the object, as proud as punch - like he was the one who actually sculpted that thing.

I had a few robo-gnome, a regular gnome, and several laundry gnomes all in my inventory, then one day I decided to let them all out. The next day, I find them ALL on the roof in dancing position XD.   Unfortunatly I don't have any pics sorry :(

I am beginning to wonder now if that is the way it is suppose to be.  I have read so many different stories on here where the gnomes go.  Mine "poof" too, and then I will be playing my game and "poof" they are back where they were.  Someone did say there was a gnome village in one of the underground tunnels, so maybe they just go on vacation, lol.  That is funny about the sculpture, mine came out of the snake charmers basket.

Now I just stuff them in a chest when I get them, until EA fixes the bug. They're one of the best parts of the game.
