The Valmont Legacy - Generation 1, Chapter 10: Departures
« on: November 06, 2012, 02:52:48 PM »
Prologue – The Move

Noel Valmont was an interesting child to say the least – many a time, in his modest home in Appaloosa Plains, he would beat up robbers who came into his house and put out fires with a mysterious fire extinguisher that seem to materialize into space. When he hit high school, his hormones suddenly kicked in and flirted with any woman who gave him a certain look, even elderly ladies. His love of the color purple and fantasy-like attire gave birth to rumors that he was a prince from the distant past plucked via a time machine, although there were medical records indicating his hospital birthday 23 years ago. But despite his quirkiness, he was a courageous kid, and once he became a young adult, his past experience with fighting fires in his home got him to thinking about becoming a profession firefighter. The thought of quelching fires with a giant hose, saving panicked people from burning buildings, and charming young ladies with the classic “I'm a firefighter” line was enthralling for the young man.

However, a day after his birthday, tragedy struck. While Noel was out gathering some seeds for his mother's garden, Appaloosa Plains had its first ever meteor shower. And, while in the midst of a tender moment between two elderly parents wishing on what they thought were far-away shooting stars, a meteor took both their lives.

Noel grieved for days. Two, to be exact, because that's how long the moodlet lasted.  But in his grief, he decided that he wanted a change. Although he loved his house, the sudden loss of his two best friends and the amount of property damage to his home was too much. So he went to the newspapers. He looked at cheap real estate properties from places like Sunset Valley (too far), Bridgeport (too expensive), Moonlight Falls (too gloomy and reminded him of his parents as his mother (and him) were witches), and other such places. As he stayed at the local alchemy shop and used its rocking chair as a temporary bed, a visitor transported via the LLAMA and started a conversation with the Consignment Specialist.

“Nice to meet you too...yeah, I'm from Twinbrook...just got here, still selling my old house--”

“You're selling your old house?”

“Yeah,I've got plenty of land on it. And I'm selling for cheap too! 14,700 simoleons, to be exact! 64 by 64 square feet! It's a sell, kid. You don't see a deal like that just any day. ”

14,700 simoleons? 60 x 60 square feet? It sounded too good to be true. But if it was really as big as it was, he thought he could probably raise a nice family there, and have some horses or something. Hell, maybe if he was really lucky, he could start some kind of 10 generation family legacy! Why ten, he didn't know.

“Then let's make a deal, sir!”

The seller soon brought the contracts to him, and after paying all the money, he grabbed the few possessions that he had and headed to the suburban marsh town of Twinbrook.

Valmont Legacy Players

Generation 1

Noel Valmont (Founder)
The legacy founder. He's kind of an idiot for not realizing that his last simoleons were spent on an empty lot, but he's willing to risk his life to save anyone. He's also probably one of the easiest guys to talk to, although he does have a tendency to run his mouth about things that excite him (and that's a lot of things).

Traits: Flirty, Brave, Gatherer, Excitable, Unlucky
Favorite Color: Purple
Favorite Food: Mac and Cheese
Favorite Music: Kids
Astrological Sign:
Lifetime Wish: Firefighter Super Hero
Species: Witch

Julienne (née Knack) Valmont (Spouse)
Julienne, the daughter of the famous surgeon Nick Knack, and the CEO of High Products Business Building Pattina Knack, is a hardworking young woman who wants to take over her mother's job in the future. She's got the drive, but don't think she's a bore – she's quite the charmer in and outside of work, and can cook up a good batch of french toast.

Traits: Ambitious, Flirty, Natural Cook, Snob, Workaholic
Favorite Color: Orange
Favorite Food: French Toast
Favorite Music: Soul
Astrological Sign: Aries
Lifetime Wish: CEO of a Mega Corporation

Generation 2

Juleon Valmont (Heir)
The Generation 2 Heir.  He's a teenager. He's toned down the pink in his everyday wear because of his dad, but any other time...

Favorite Color: Pink
Favorite Food:  Goopy Carbonara
Favorite Music: R&B
Astrological Sign: Virgo
Lifetime Wish: None

Nolan Valmont (Spare)
Juleon's little brother. When he came out of the womb, he wanted his bottle right away. He's a studious kid and finishes his homework way faster than Juleon. He will pay for getting Unflirty as a trait in my legacy.

Traits: Couch Potato, Clumsy, Genius, Unflirty
Favorite Color: Green
Favorite Food: Vegetarian Chili
Favorite Music: Latin
Astrological Sign: Taurus

Traits: Absent-Minded, Easily Impressed, Insane
Favorite Color: Spiceberry
Favorite Food: Fruit Parfait
Favorite Music:  Dark Wave
Astrological Sign: Leo
Lifetime Wish: None

Generation 1, Chapter 1 – The Empty Lot

When Noel, still in shock from the loss of his parents, but hopeful for the future, his only hope was that there would be a nice house waiting for him after long drive from the country.

What he got was this:

Noel called the seller. As a generally nice guy, Noel smiled as the seller explained that bulldozers might've destroyed his old house and was willing to give him some money back. But Noel insisted that he didn't, because Noel, being somewhat of a adrenaline junkie, loved challenges, and thought that the seller probably needed money to buy a barn for his horses and fences for his plants for the occasional zombie attack. Noel hung up.

He counted his leftover simoleons. The few possessions he had himself cost him a lot in moving fees, so he was only left with about 3000 simoleons. He bought the basic necessities, whittling his reserves to about 387 simoleons.

It was cheap, and it didn't have a roof, but it was better than nothing. But his measly amount of money made him drive off in his partner, the Beast, to find a job somewhere. Hopefully the nearest fire station was looking for new recruits?

But first he piled through the junkyard to find some leftover tables, and to ask for directions.

And then headed downtown. Unfortunately, being the unlucky guy that he is, he got lost. All these new buildings and marshes everywhere – he suddenly missed the dry heat of his hometown and the bountiful animals that his town was known for. But more than anything, he missed the feeling of familiarity.

As if in a trance, he wandered into a local cafe.

He saw a whole group of people that different from the people he saw in town (he talked to them, and he found out they were a group of college friends from Starlight Shores) and an older lady. Since the others didn't know where the fire station was, he thought that he'd ask her where it was.

But Noel being Noel, he couldn't help but use a bit of his famous high school charm on her.

“After I become, you know, a firefighter, I could save you from a burning building like guys in the movi--”

“Honey, you're sweet, but my husband could whoop your behind before I finished my famous Autumn Salad. Also, he's a scientist. You know what they can do.”

Noel quietly walked toward the counter, and grabbed a drink. Next to him, a lone girl with her laptop tapped away, oblivious to the music or one of the Starlight Shores kids dancing with an old guy. She seemed busy, but as Noel looked at her, she seemed more and more beautiful. Her short hair, her black clothes – Noel would probably never see a girl like that in Appaloosa Plains.

Before he knew what he was doing, he called her over.

“Hey my little black sheep, do you have any wool?”

“Why? You need someone to warm you up at night?”

Noel was in love.

(Note: The 'Starlight Shores' college friends are based on my friends and me. I originally created my Twinbrook file to play a house with 8 friends crammed in a mansion but...I thought seeing what would happen when I left them to their own devices would be hilarious. Also, I just wanted to legacy with Noel.)

Generation 1, Chapter 2 – Julienne

Julienne had just been on her computer, working on assisting the manager to acquire new, exotic spices from ancient lands. Although she liked cooking, it could never compare to what she really wanted – to become the CEO of High Products Business Building, just like her mom. Not that she had ever told anyone this.

But suddenly this boy who looks like he waltzed out of the 1300s comes in, a little dizzy from the juice, but friendly. She wasn't sure what was so attractive about him. Maybe because he was brave – not many guys would flirt with a workaholic like her. After all, there was younger girls dancing behind her.

Some with rather...questionable tastes.

Once they got talking though, they couldn't stop. It's almost like he knew her from just a few conversations. The two even went out to dinner together, and with the help of her friend DeAndre Wolff --

They danced the night away. Though neither was very good at it.

But still, she liked dancing with him, and talking to him. And, for a long, long time, Julienne had been meaning to live outside of her mansion. Her parents, who had always worked since as long as he could remember, were strangers to her. So when Noel asked her to move in, she jumped right at the chance to pack her bags and leave.

What Noel neglected to tell her was about his living arrangements.

“Noel, I'm sorry, but this isn't going to work. Here's 20,000 simoleons to rebuild your dumpy place. I'll come back later.”

Next night:

Julienne knew that 20,000 simoleons wouldn't make a mansion, but the house was still pretty sparse. But Noel had told here there was only about 2,000 left for bills, and Noel hadn't gone to his first day of work just yet. Julienne hadn't worked either, because after some debate with herself, she decided that she should quit while she was still a restaurant novice and fulfill her life long dream of being a CEO.

The next few days, the two were inseperable. The two roommates ate waffles together,

talked about favorite foods in the bathroom (Noel praising her Mac and Cheese, which was his favorite),

and even exercised together. Although Julienne begged Noel to buy some better threads.

“I can see your underwear.”

“Are you enjoying it?”

Truthfully, she was. Although they had just met, ever since he hit on her at the Rendezvous, she wanted something a little more than friendship. She did have a suitor from ages ago...but Noel hit like a tornado and stole her heart. So when they ate at the diner, they started getting a little more heavy with the romancing.

She might've gotten a bit more than she bargained for, though.

But it didn't matter. The next day, the two were married in yes, the bathroom..

And did the usual marriage business...

Which led to the usual marriage consequences...

Don't worry, Noel was pleased as pollen punch to the good news. With the start of his legacy, all he needed to do was fulfill his destiny of saving helpless victims from the flames.

"Noel, have I mentioned you should lose a couple pounds?"

Julienne was happy, of course. She loved Noel and was proud to be the bearer of his heir to the Valmont family.  But all this maternity leave meant that she couldn't go to work for another four days. When would she be able to fulfill her own destiny? And what would Noel, the injustice fighting, essentially good fireman superhero, think if he heard that Julienne used to have thing with a man from a certain infamous criminal family...?

---
Regardless, welcome Mrs. Julienne (Knack) Valmont to our lovely dynasty! Although Twinbrook is rumored to have some of the ugliest genetics this side of Sunset Vallley, I personally think she's a beautiful girl. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Let's hope that other generations have similar luck!

Generation 1, Chapter 3 – Waba Nooboo

Ever the diligent worker, Julienne worked as much as she could before she gave birth.

Noel also worked as well. He had a few days before officially starting his first day at work, so to train for it,he kept raising his athletics by following the fitness channel on tv (and yes, Julienne did join him, until she got too big) and kept fixing the toilet that kept breaking. Somehow, the 'luck' he had with his parents being killed also applied to household appliances...

But besides all the hard work, sometimes the newlyweds (and soon-to-be-parents) had a few tender moments together.

Soon enough, though, Julienne was crying in labor and Noel rushed her to the hospital. Well, actually Julienne drove herself with Noel freaking out in the car and on the way to hospital. Julienne does happen to be the older one in this relationship.

“Honey, not so fast or maybe the baby might explode out of you!”
“What kind of birthing videos did you watch in high school?”

After months (days...day) of anticipation, please welcome your 2nd generation heir, Juleon Valmont!

As he was born, he kept crying as the doctors got him out and weighed him. But once he was given to the mother and the doctors left, he stopped. Noel couldn't help notice that Juleon's eyes kept wandering from place to place. But it didn't matter. Noel was super excited to have his first child come home.

So excited, in fact, that while Julienne slept after the two had a celebration of first child woohoo, Noel brought Juleon to work!

“And maybe one day you'll take over my job as a firefighter and be an awesome super hero like your dad!!”
“Googoo!”

Some coworkers were a little confused.

“The fire station doesn't have bring your child to work day, kid.”
“I'm sorry, ma'am – Juleon, what's wrong? Do you need to change your diaper? Or sleep? Ma'am, do you have a crib for my kid?”
“Why did we hire a country boy with no common sense...”

Of course, the fire alarm sounded right when he cried. His superior, Anna-Liza Riddle, made sure that he brought back Juleon before Noel went to the place. Unfortunately, as Juleon's birth was in the early morning, he didn't have enough sleep...

And slept through the emergency. Mrs. Riddle was not pleased about this. Neither was Julienne, who was going to make sure Noel heard about the worry he caused her by taking Juleon. She planned a whole speech on her laptop and everything!

But Noel's charms won out in the end.

Julienne was pleased, and they fell asleep. However, what Julienne neglected to tell him was that someone new was on their way...

“My barf actually looks like a piece of art—blegh.”

Louise: Glad you're enjoying it. I actually looked at Julienne closer and her nose is really thin ... but besides that she's really pretty. Hopefully the children will look good as well!

The best part was that it was mostly free will. I just made Noel feed Juleon...and that happened. I laughed.

I'm sure Noel will be just fine. Julienne...well, we'll see.

Generation 1, Chapter 4 – (Re)Birth Days

It's Juleon's birthday today!

He doesn't seem to care though. Julienne, on the other hand, wants to throw he son a proper birthday party. She invites an old friend, DeAndre Wolff, and her parents, who haven't actually seen her since she moved in.

“Julienne Knack, you mean to tell me that you got married with your roommate and have a kid in the span of a week? And didn't tell me?!”
Pattina: “My name's Julienne Valmont now, mom, and I thought you were busy--”
Julienne: “What, you didn't know? I retired!”
Pattina: “Oh, you did...? Congratulations.”

Julienne had never been close to her parents, but Juleon should at least know his grandparents before they kick the bucket.

In the meanwhile, Noel has gotten a call from a certain Cherish Curious to upgrade her stereo speakers. It's a really nice stereo, so Noel just hopes that he can do a good job. After he's finished, he turns it on to see if his hard work has paid off.

Julienne: “Honey?”

A famous visitor comes knocking. As the Knacks didn't have other relatives in Twinbrook, it was Julienne's first time seeing him. Thankfully Juleon didn't sleep in his parents room. She didn't want the memory of his father's death haunting him for the rest of his life.

Julienne cried. She was all set on whipping her dishes for the party, and this happened? She just got married to him! Their child was becoming a toddler! Another child was on the way! She wasn't one for dramatics, but Noel's sudden death hit her hard. Would she be able to take care of two kids on her own, or would she have to ask her distant parents to move in? Or maybe they could live at the Knack Mansion? Would she be able to become the CEO she so desperately wanted to be?

Grim: “Noel, your misfortune amuses me--”
Julienne: “Does my misfortune amuse you?”
Grim: “Girl, if you were in the same place as him, you'd really be dead. He's so Take yo man back.”

She ignored Grim's odd use of language and squeezed Noel tight.

Julienne: “Don't you ever do something like that again, you hear me?”
Noel: “Can't...breathe...”

Thankfully, the party went off without a hitch. Except maybe a certain someone (this is where Rouge kicks herself) forgot to unlock the door as it wasn't a full moon anymore. But the three guests didn't seem to mind so much.

Nick: “Oppa Nick Knack Style!”
DeAndre: “Nick, I'm sorry, but you're too old for this. Now if you the Rock Star God like myself...”
Pattina: “I'm suddenly thankful that the door isn't open...”

Julienne: “Why aren't they coming in?”
Juleon: “baby noises”
Noel: “We'll just bring the party then! GO JULEON!”

With only his parents celebrating, Juleon becomes a toddler.

For a while I didn't realize why he was blonde (with brown roots) until I looked at his grandparents. I'm kind of wondering if Julienne dyed her hair before Noel met her. He also inherits Julienne's brown eyes.

The party dies down and the guests leave. The parents clean up, but Noel sneaks in a little time to teach his first born how to walk.

However, not all of the day's events are over...

Noel was dead tired, so Julienne opted for a home birth. By herself. Way to go founder.

After a very exhausting and emotional day and night, please welcome Nolan Valmont, our first 2nd gen spare! He seemed very content drinking up his first bottle, but it slipped out of his hands multiple times!

Now Julienne joined Noel about worrying about the next generation. None of the two boys seemed as hardworking as their mom or as brave as their dad. What happened? But then again, they were still little. Perhaps time would transform them into better kids.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen brown-haired kids from Julienne. The hair-dyeing thing makes sense now.

Generation 1, Chapter 5 – Family, Work, and Cho Sonwhun

Noel and Julienne were glad to have two bouncing little boys in their household now. Juleon wouldn't be lonely, and Nolan would have someone to look up to.  While Nolan slept in his crib, the two would train Juleon to walk, talk...and potty.

The problem wasn't the children, it was their work schedules.

Julienne: “Honey, you think we should start investing in babysitters?”
Noel: “Mfph---what?”

Noel argued that he could just take them to the station and watch over them, but Julienne wasn't having that fiasco that happened during Juleon's first day of life happen again. Julienne would stay home, but her dream to own her (now deceased) mother once owned burned within her and she was eager to start over again. So Noel relented.

Julienne, unfortunately, had another problem to deal with – her old love interest, Bill Racket.

Apparently, Bill hadn't gotten the memo that Julienne had gotten married. Granted, she lived on the opposite side of town now and Bill had gotten older and a bit more senile. But how would she be able to keep him off her back? Julienne never could find the courage to tell Noel about her past. And she wasn't one to talk about her problems at work...

Speaking of work problems, the oblivious Noel was suffering at work. Ever since that time where he was slept off on an emergency, the superiors (wherever they may be – it seemed that Noel was the only one there after all!) kept assigning him to huge fires. They also made him fix the fire truck and the fire alarm as much as possible. All the stress made him so tired that he left  one house with trapped people inside (even though he put out the fire).

Thankfully, the kids seemed to get along well.

Nolan aged to a toddler so fast that they forget to throw him a birthday party, but he didn't seem to mind.

They also didn't throw a party for Juleon's birthday, but since he became scared of people, darkness, and other things, the parents thought it was probably a good thing. Noel also noticed that his little boy kind of looked like a little girl instead....

It bothered him, but he was so busy, and Juleon was his first born and heir that he just hoped it was a phase that he was going through. He thought taking him to the fire station would help now that he was older, but Julienne put her foot down. However, the constant amount of money for all these different babysitters was starting to get to Julienne. She wanted to advance her career without sacrificing her family! What was the answer?

Julienne: /intense concentration face/
Cake: “NOOOO”

It didn't help she was feeling a little...queasy again. Knowing what was going on, she decided that she might tell her new boss, Cho Sonwhun, about taking maternity leave again. Face to face would probably help her case and keep her job!

But as she talked to this young, single, and wealthy lady, she thought that Miss Sonwhun might be the answer to a multitude of problems....
