I've always wondered that, the social interaction aspect.  How much is programed in the game?  In real life if someone walked up to you and tossed a vial of something that made you sick, you'd be really ticked off.  I doubt you would be nice and invite them over for coffee, or for me, tea (love the smell, can't stand the taste of coffee).
How does the game act?  I know that mailpersons, police, firefighters are NPC; can they be friends of townies?

Could they (or a townie) react to actions of the player's sim?  Revenge is sweet type of aspect?  I can think of a lot of nasty elixers I could toss at some of the sims in SV.  Can't remember his name (Jared Fro ?), Connor's brother, and the kid with the spiked hair; VJ I think is his name, or his brother's.

I've found my sim's bills on the ground; I thought it would have to do with if you didn't pay it that day, when the mail arrived the next day it was tossed out of the mailbox.

I've had a postal carrier go up to my trash can and knock it over and yell before leaving.  I've also had bills on the ground but I pay bills on time so there shouldn't be anything in the mailbox.  Maybe the postal carriers are just lazy or hate their job. (lol)

I always just assumed it was EA's little joke about postal workers. Ever since that postal worker started sniping people with a rifle from a bell tower decades ago "Going postal" became an expression for getting really angry. I just assumed it was EA's little nod to that.

Exactly my thought! Especially since my first husband was a postal worker!

If you try to invite a sim you barely know over a few times and failed, they will think you are weird. If you insult them or act inappropriately, they will dislike you and they will remember. The next time you see them you still have to apologize to them to make them think you are okay.

If you tried talking to them you can get to know them and be friends.

But I doubt a lot of players really offended the NPCs in anyway to cause them to throw the mail on the floor. The easiest way to explain is it is just random, the mail carrier is having a bad day.

Speaking of bad relationships with postal workers…

Anyone playing with a dog found an interaction to “Chase Postman”? I’d bet many people would really like to see that!

“You ought to upgrade to Windows 7!”, they said. “It’ll help your games run so much better!”, they said. If I see them again, then they had better know how to stabilize an on-the-fritz copy of The Sims 3 that was working just fine on Windows XP.

My sims bully the post man, freezing or burning him most every day, zeroing most of his needs other days, yet he never seems to do that.
