Married But Living Separately
« on: November 03, 2012, 04:40:10 AM »
My created SIM, Michael Armstron, married Agnes Crumplebottom but the option to join their households did not appear during the private wedding. Nor have I been able to join the two household since the wedding. Is this a program bug or is it a feature of the original SIM3 game (no expansions installed)?

I am running the original SIMS 3 on Windows 7 Ultimate. Windows 7 is running in the Bootcamp partition of a MacBook Pro. I down loaded and installed the available patches before starting the game for the first time but when I found that I could not disable Telemetery via the Options and keep it off, I began starting the program with the application rather than the launcher. I also configured the application to run as an administrator.  The Options stay set now but I've run into this issue of the married SIMS that will not join households. Suggestions?

It's a bug, it came with a patch.
Edit: Here is the thread with info about it, http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,13059.0.html

Havent heard about this glitch, but you could try and call her over and see if you can "ask to move in"

Or go into "edit town" and merge the 2 households together :)

Yes it's a known bug right now.  She can be asked to move in via the friendly interactions and then you're going to need to go to City Hall to change her name once you control her.   Right now there is no information of when this will get fixed other than the possible installation of Seasons.  Sorry.  A lot of us are hoping that a new patch will come near release date of the new EP.

Thank you for your help and advice. I have uninstalled the EA Launcher and the SIMS 3, then reinstalled the SIMS 3. I bypassed the launcher and started the game directly from the application. Wow, what a difference that made. Marriage works as expected now. The newly weds are off to a good start in their new home and neighborhood.

I wanted to try playing the original SIMS 3 without any of the bells and whistles just to get a feel for the basic game. So far, so good.
