Disappearing Items

I installed Showtime and the Katy Perry expansion pack yesterday. Basically what is happening is, the longer I play the game, the more things disappear. First, a few days in, the circles above each building disappeared. Then the next day, the home button beside my sim's picture disappeared. The sim I am working with is a singer and during one of her shows the proprietor was sitting at an umbrella table, then the table AND the proprietor disappeared completely. The final straw that broke the camel's back was when the labels above the motives bars disappeared. I have been playing sims for a very long time on the same computer and I know it couldn't be a graphics issue. Does anyone else have this issue? It is really becoming annoying and I have never had this problem until I installed the new expansion packs. I have a windows computer and my game is up to date. I have very little CC that was installed before the expansion packs were and I have no mods on my game. Please help!

Have you cleared out all of your cache files and the DCBackup folder except the ccmerged file?  Was this a really old file that you had been playing for a while?  Did it just happen with one file or does it happen with multiple files?  You could have save game corruption if it's just the one file.

I haven't tried any other games to see if it is a recurring problem. This is a new game I started right after getting the EP's. And about the first part of the question, I'm not sure how I would clear the files. Could you explain more?

There are files within your Sims 3 folder that should regularly be deleted that at times seem to help fix bugs.  The files are safe to delete and the game always regenerates them when you load them up.

Make sure the game is not running and that you've restarted your computer recently.
Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3.
Inside delete the following files: compositorCache.package, scriptCache.package, simCompositorCache.package, and CASPartCache.package.
Now find the fold DCBackup in the same location.  Open it up and you should find lots of .package files.  Delete all of it but the one name ccmerged.package.   If you delete the ccmerged file then you'll need to reinstall all of your premium content to get it to work as intended.

Once you've deleted those files, clear the recycle bin and start up the Sims.   You should notice a difference and there is a possibility that your new town will be fixed.

I checked the game today and your advice worked! Only one problem now, somehow my YA sim has been put in a toddler's body. I can't trigger an age transaction or go into create-a-sim because she is in her career wear. My final decision is to just abandon the game, but thank you so much for your help!
