Buyable child oven pastries
« on: October 30, 2012, 09:42:43 PM »
I am looking for a mod that makes the pies, muffins, cookies, and cakes from the child oven buyable. I'm not picky about how they're buyable, either. Any ideas?

I did a quick search and there appears to be no Mod that does that. :( I also looked at the code. I can see how it would be done, but I can't figure out for the life of me what the required codes are. Sorry.

Welcome to our Forum, Chailatte.

What do you mean by making them buyable?  They can already be sold with the child's baking table.

If you copy and paste to code from one of the ingredients in the ingredients _XML to make it buyable at the grocery store, that might work. Or you could add it to the food register, though I haven't played too much with the food register outside of WA locations. I might have a play around with it tomorrow.

@Pam - I meant buyable without needing a child and a bake sale stand, such as from the grocery store or a WA food register.

@Seabody - Thanks for looking into it.

@WickedSimmer87 - I don't have Showtime, but that's good information! If you've ever tried twallan's debug enabler, Sims can "summon" almost any type of food from nowhere, even ambrosia, but not the child oven baked goods.

@Chuckles_82 - That would be great, thanks!

You'd need to add it into the Shopping XML file - that's what I've found so far - but you need the Game's Object Name (not names like "Minus One Kelvin Fridge") - those are listed in OBJD's in fullbuild01.package (and the subsequent EP folders). I haven't yet been able to find the name for any of the pastries.

They are in the RecipeMasterList _XML. I've already started having a look at it. I think if I add the appropriate code to them there, and then add the code to the grocery store, I might have it. I've emailed our resident expert on custom foods to confirm :) Then I'll run my sample code (just one of the baked goods) and see how it goes in game, and then do all the rest.

Just a quick update on my race against Chuckles experiment (adding stuff to the grocery has been an ambition of mine since soon after I started modding). I added the cake, pie and muffin to the grocery (using the names in the list Chuckles mentioned and the Shopping XML). I succeeded in adding them to the grocery, but they were all Birthday Inferno birthday cakes. >:( Anyway, I've now cemented my belief about the Shopping XML (I had faith in it anyway, blackcat and anak_ponti used it when they were doing the Shopping and Ingredients Overhaul mod), so all I have to do is track down the proper game name.

Edit: I looked again and I was looking at the wrong version of gameplaydata.package - the WA version. I closed it and opened the Vanilla s3pe. This looks more promising.

Edit 2: Added them in, I'll test it quickly.

Edit 3: Nope, I just added more birthday cakes. I think I'll have to go through the OBJD's.

Huh! Who'd have guessed it! Favourite foods do play a role in the game after all! There is a 33% chance that a sim will chose their favourite food when cooking autonomously. I've looked at the grocery store file, and I don't add the baked foods there, and I looked at the food register, and they don't get added there. I'm going to try running it with only editing the recipe master list, and seeing if I can buy them from the food register.

Edit: I've done it :D Baked goods buyable from the food register. I have set the price for everything at 5 simoleans. Does that sound reasonable? I don't think we can upload it here (mods, can I? I'm not sure) but I could send it to you in a pm if you like. Please note that it will probably conflict with any custom content foods.

So it's a matter of adding it to the RecipeMasterList XML? I might play around with it a bit. I'll also probably continue to check up on adding items to the grocery store via the Shopping XML, though.

I can't find a specific rule that says I can't attach the mod here, so I'm putting it here for now. I must be having a dumb day, because I can't for the life of me find out how to attach it in a PM.

If anyone else wishes to use this mod, it can be placed in the mods/overrides folder. It will conflict with anything that edits the RecipeMasterList _XML and will need updating each time this file is changed with a patch/expansion.

If anyone is interested in something similar, such as making all foods buyable, I could give that a go too :) Just send me a PM.

This mod is great! I added a food register to my nectary, and now I have a bakery cafe. Mmm... brownies  :)
