A Past on Pause - Chapter 7: Garrett (April 30)
« on: October 27, 2012, 08:40:46 PM »
I'm trying a Misc Story. Sometimes, I just don't have the patience or the time to wait the 30min 45min for my Dynasty to load. I actually dreamed this a while back and thought it might make a good Sims story. Enjoy!  :D

A Past on Pause - Chapter 1: Welcome to My Party

(Left: Izzy // Right: Tanya)

“Now this is the way to spend a Saturday night.” Tanya purred as she leaned back in the bubbling hot tub. “Loud music, fresh nectar to drink, and a great party; just what I need after my week at work.”

Izzy readjusted her bathing suit top. “You’ve got that right, Tanya. There’s nothing like an indoor pool party to soak away the stress. I still can’t believe my agent hasn’t found a gig for me, I’m sick of doing sing-a-gram after sing-a-gram! I need to perform on stage for thousands!”

“It will happen” Tanya reassured her best friend, “You just need to wait for your big break.”

“I know, but I want to be a famous singer now, not years from now!” Izzy splashed her hands through the water in frustration.

“Hey, don’t wreck the hair! It took me hours to get it just right.”

“Sorry,” Izzy sighed, climbing out of the hot tub, “I’m getting a drink. What do you want?”

“Something fruity, I’m in the mood for something sweet. Speaking of which, I’ll be over there chatting with muscles.” Tanya slid from the hot tub and glided over to the dance floor.

Drink in hand, Izzy made her way around the room, schmoozing the local singles and making friends. After making a drink suggestion to one of her guests, Izzy surveyed the room. Clapping could just be heard above the music as the crowd showed appreciation to the mixologist for his nimble, heart-stopping mixing skills, and the DJ was playing the requested chart-topping pop hit. The smell of chlorinated salt water mixed with the flowers growing beside the pool wafted past Izzy’s nose as she watched the splashing contest happening in the pool. Further down the room, more guests had filled the spots in the hot tub vacated by her and Tanya.

Wait, what?! At the tables along the inside wall, placed there for guests to sit and chat or enjoy their drinks some guy was typing away on a laptop! How rude! This was a party, a social event by definition and this guy was just sitting there, by himself, being anti-social. Not at her party!

Marching gracefully with a sway in her hips across the tiles around the pool, Izzy constructed a tirade in her head. Boy was she going to give this guy a piece of her mind! A quick, hard tug on her arm set Izzy flying into the pool with a huge splash!

Sputtering, Izzy’s head surfaced and she caught a quick glimpse of Tanya’s laughing face before she got a face full of water. Livid, Izzy pulled herself from the water.

“How could you?! And after that ‘watch it, don’t wreck my hair’ thing in the hot tub? Do you think you’re the only one that spent hours on her hair and make-up? You are so selfish!”

Izzy turned and stormed off to the bar. She needed a drink!

“I’m sorry,” Tanya apologized when she caught up to her best friend. “I thought you looked like you could use some fun. In my defense, I asked you if you wanted to join us but you obviously didn’t hear me. I’m sorry.”

Embarrassed beyond words for the dunking and her over-reaction, Izzy fired back. “Well, maybe you should just go home now! You’ve ruined the party.”

Face red and hair dripping, Izzy went in search of a towel. When she noticed all the fresh towels she had Evelyn put out for their guests were gone, she went in search of Evelyn.

Outside the hall bathroom, Izzy ran into Evelyn. “I need a towel pronto.”

Evelyn dropped her load of wet towels and said, “I believe there are a few left in the closet in this bathroom, to the right of the tub.”

Before Evelyn had finished talking, Izzy spun around and entered the bathroom coming to a stop in front of the tub. The heat and humidity from her face caused her sunglasses to fog. Which closet was it again? Izzy opened the one on the right. Bingo!

Toweling herself off, Izzy couldn’t help but wonder why a hall bathroom needed two closets anyway? One for towels and the other for toilet paper? But the one on the right had both.

Izzy dropped the wet towel on the floor. So if the right closet had towels and toilet paper and toiletries, what was in the left closet? More towels? That seemed a bit excessive. The sounds of her guests leaving barely registered to Izzy as she opened the left closet. It was empty. Completely empty. Not even a shelf. Just an empty room.

Curious, Izzy stepped into the closet. There had to be something in here. With a wall on the right, Izzy turned to the left. Stairs.

“OK,” Izzy shook her head, “I really shouldn’t have had that last drink it’s making me see things.”

Izzy rubbed her eyes, but the stairs where still there. “Wow, that’s one crazy strong drink,” she said to herself. And then, realizing she was talking to herself while standing in a closet, Izzy went upstairs to bed. The guests could see themselves out.

I really like it so far. Can't wait to see what she saw. I like Tanya's purple hair by the way.

Chapter 2: Staircase on My Mind

Izzy rubbed the sleep from her eyes and yawned so wide her jaw clicked. Was it morning already? Slowly, Izzy opened her eyes and sat up at the edge of her bed. Waiting for the room to stop spinning, moments of the party last night skipped through her mind. What a fun night, minus the pool incident that she was still mad at Tanya for.

About to stand up, Izzy paused. There was something about a staircase. In the bathroom. Of her house. Shaking her head to clear the last of the cobwebs, Izzy got dressed and headed downstairs for breakfast. If it was her lucky morning, Evelyn would have made fresh waffles, her favourite.

As she ate her breakfast, savouring the sweetness of the whipped cream and strawberry toppings, Izzy’s mind wandered back to the party last night. Hiring a DJ had been an awesome idea, she’d have to remember to thank Tanya later.

Tanya. Thoughts of her best friend brought back the unpleasant memory of being yanked off her feet and inhaling a lung full of water when she landed in the pool. Izzy tipped her glass of apple juice a bit too far and felt the sting of acid in her wind pipe.

Sputtering, she tied to think about something else. Dancing, drinks, music, laptop ... Wait, there had been a guy sitting at one of the side tables being all anti-social typing away on his laptop. Who was he? Maybe he was a friend of Tanya’s, or a friend of a friend. Either way, she still wanted to give him a piece of her mind.

And then there was that staircase again. Did it really exist? Did she just have too much nectar last night? Had the chlorinated water she inhaled temporarily fried her brain?

Chewing on an empty fork, Izzy looked down at her plate. The waffles were gone. Her day suddenly stretched out in front of her. Should she swim a few laps, maybe get her hair done at the salon, get a massage at the spa, or visit the pet store to cuddle a puppy? So many options, where to start?

Chapter 3: A Call to Tanya

The staircase was what’s important; getting her hair done could wait.

Getting up from the table Izzy couldn’t help but be curious about what might be in the basement. It was as if making the decision to go down there freed her mind from the fear of the unknown. Is it just storage? If yes, then what kinds of treasures would she find? Is it servant’s quarters? Thinking of it, Izzy had no idea where Evelyn slept at night. Anyway, maybe she could turn the space into the world’s best gaming room! She could expand her party themes. Maybe the guy with the laptop would have more fun, Izzy thought, he could show everyone how to sit in front of personal screens and not socialize.

Smirking, Izzy decided to call Tanya. It would be loads more fun to explore the basement with her best friend along to laugh at stuff with.

“Hi Tanya, it’s me. Look, I’m really sorry about last night, you just caught me off guard is all but yelling at you was uncalled for.”

“It’s alright, girl, I get it. Sorry about the pool thing.”

Silence.

“So ...” Izzy cleared her throat. “What are your plans for today?”

“Nothing but chillin’ in front of the TV. You?” Tanya yawned.

“Well, I kind of found a staircase to the basement in the front bathroom of my house. Do you want to come explore my basement?”

“Um, I’m really not feeling the whole get dressed to get dusty in some dark, musty basement thing.”

“Come on, Tanya, it will be way more fun than watching Criminal Minds reruns all day. I really don’t understand how you can watch that stuff.”

“Because it’s awesome! Come over and give it a shot, the next one is about this guy that ...”

“No, really, Tanya, I’m good. Please? Pretty please? I’ll ask Evelyn to make cherry cobbler, your favourite.”

“Boy, do you ever play dirty, Izzy, you know I never turn down a chance for cherry cobbler!” Tanya sighed. “I’ll be over in a gif.”

~~~~~ # ~~~~~
Ending the call, Izzy touched her phone to her chin and waited. Twenty minutes. In twenty minutes she would be facing down those stairs again ready to find some answers. Maybe she should check and make sure the staircase wasn’t something the nectar of last night created. That would be a laugh for Tanya!
A text alert brought Izzy out of her thoughts. Her agent had her signed up for sing-a-grams today, what a bore. Izzy jammed her phone back into her pocket in frustration. Sing-a-grams where for the far less talented singers, this working her way through the “system” here was a waste of her time.
Rolling her eyes, Izzy headed towards the front hall. She needed to check on that staircase.
