Favorite Career
« on: October 26, 2012, 08:02:18 AM »
I'm curious to know what everybody's favorite career is and why.

Personally I am really enjoying my horseman career I am currently undertaking but really enjoyed the Magician career.

I'm enjoying the Showtime professions a lot more than I ever would have expected. Acrobats are fun to take screenshots of too. I still haven't had a magician yet, so that's next on my list.

Other than that, I'm a huge fan of firefighting.

Firefighting is one I keep meaning to do but then something else always comes up.

I'm unfortunately very predictable with what career I choose for my sims. My CAS will always be a five star chef. I just love seeing the fridge full of perfect quality foods.

I did recently purchase Pets (I'm always six months to a year behind on expension packs) and I have yet to really explore the new features so I think I will try to raise a horse for racing. While still having Natural Cook among my traits if course :)

I really don't have a favourite career, but, I have a favourite career reward.  The five star chef's reward fridge is a must for keeping food permanantly fresh and adding mood points while doing it.  So I always start one new sim, per new family, in the culinary career.

Before the recent bug, ghost hunter was a career I found quite fun to do.  I didn't get on too well with the equestrian career, really must try that one again though.  Same goes for photography and architecture.  I've never tried stylist, must give that one a go, same goes for magician.

I always love writing and/or painting. I can do as much or as little of it as I want and, in the later 'years' just have them live off of the purchased real estate.
A 1920s era house needing heat, AC, new floors, new drywall on the walls and ceilings, new bathroom fixtures, new kitchen cabinets, new water heaters.... The roof is sound, but why didn't I just buy an empty lot?

The ghost hunter profession. It gives me a little thrill every time.

I have WA, Pets and now SN.  For self employment, writer or writer/artist and I am enjoying the alchemy career, but the only way I can see it being a means of income is to sell the elixers.
For other types, the employed careers, I like the Spy one.  I think it is the James Bond aspect; at the later stage the males starts to wear the tux and they looks real cool in it.  I have played with females, but for some reason, I am blank of how they dress at the spy stage, it has to be a formal; but the male really stands out to me.  Tall, Dark and Handsome ;D
I always do a couple and one will work while the other stays at home and N. Cook is a must for one, generally the one who stays at home.  No career, but I can't seem to keep from giving them the N Cook trait.

I keep telling myself to try more rabbit hole careers, but I don't really like them because they're non-interactive. Between that and the basic necessities, it feels as if I have next to no time to actually play and have fun with the Sim. It does get better in some careers at higher levels, but eh. I'm more into being self-employed so I can set my own hours -- painting, sculpting, nectar making are great once you get rolling.

I find the firefighter profession by far the most enjoyable, but for rabbit holes, chefs get my vote. The high cooking skill really comes in handy for boosting moods! I am not very good at tge self-employed stuff so I rarely attempt them.

I think my favourite is the science career, I like the idea of having mad scientist sims. I used to really like the medical career but after ambitions the vaccination clinics annoy me now.

Ghosthunter, Firefighter and Investigator are big favorites of mine, as is self-employed Sculptor. For rabbit-holes, I think my favorite is the scientist career due to the nifty hairstyle at level 10 and the thingamajig that provides moodlet effects to various objects (hopefully without making it a negative one or setting the object on fire). I agree that the fridge from the cooking career is the best physical reward though. I tend to mix it up when it comes to rabbit-holes versus the interactive careers, especially when I have a household of 3 or more people.

I like the Architect and Stylist careers in theory, but those tend to get buggy on me - I've had issues with the other Ambitions professions too, but these two seem to be more uncooperative with my game than the others.

Medical...money comes in by the boatload, plus it doesn't get as repetitive as other careers. My doctor spends a lot of time sleeping in ready rooms and golfing...and sometimes she might actually help a patient. Most doctors i've had can pull in over a 1000/hr...just on normal lifespan.

I also like the forensics branch of law enforcement...because it can be lucrative, and you get a free laptop. The other branch of law enforcement is a big disappointment compared with forensics. Cooking is also nice, for getting the best fridge in the game.

I dislike the Ambitions careers because they are a nightmare when you have more than one sim in the household.

I have to agree on that, except if the other household members are in rabbit-hole jobs.

Even with what I said above, I still love the Ambitions careers. The self-employed aspect is fun because you track your earnings, but can get boring after a while because all you are doing is skilling and producing things. I've found the Firefighting career quite easy to master if you do some skilling for Handiness and Athletic whilst waiting for a job. Ghost hunting for me is one of the most enjoyable, but apparently there's a bug, so I haven't played one in ages. I like rabbit hole jobs if the skills attatched to them are useful in everyday life, or if a lot of money can be made (by both skills and job).

I just love the rabbit-holes and the best of them, is the medical one.
Good pay, works 4 days a week, and only requires 1 skill.

I think the sports career is also good pay wise.
