I want to get rid of a child my sim got after time traveling because I'm not really prepared to take care of her. So is there a way to get rid of her with out killing her? :-\

I think you should call the social worker and tell her to take her away. Don't know any ways other than this.

1.  Age them up to young adult using the birthday cakes, then select the sim, choose move, and there will be a checkbox on the right side for kick out.

2.  Same as above but enable cheats.  Then shift click the sim to trigger age transition, then kick out.

3.  Don't take care of the child.  The social worker will come get them eventually because of neglect.  Easier with infants and toddlers since they can't get around as well as a child.  You will have to put of with negative moodlets though.

I don't think you can just pick up the phone and call the social worker.

I suggest using the aging up and kicking out method as Archer suggested.  Either birthday cake or "testingcheatsenabled true" will allow you to age up the child.  Once a young adult, have her use the cell phone or computer to move out.  Once on the moving screen, there's a box for kicking out.  She will leave the house and no longer be under your control.  And not to worry, she'll take up residence somewhere in town and you can still interact with her if you want.  You'll need to follow her with the camera when she leaves (use the pause button often) to see where she lives.

When they get kicked out they usually move into a very nice house and they don't take any of your funds or stuff with them.  However if you have them just move, which they can do as young adults, they will take part of your household funds with them including enough cash to buy a house and whatever stuff you wanted to keep that was in their personal inventory.  I lost several life fruits that way because I'd had the teen ager harvesting before I moved him out.  I didn't mind him taking his car and Simspa but the life fruits hurt.

I did not like this particular character.  He was good looking and had good traits but somehow he annoyed me so I wanted him to move.  However, he was basically a good guy and I wanted him to be loved and cared about, so I wanted him to move in with his sister who I had just married off and moved out into the renovated Goth mansion.  (It's gorgeous!)  I couldn't figure out a way to do that and I didn't want to "kick out".  Next time I won't be so kind hearted!
What?  Grannies can't play games?

It's best to follow them when they leave the house.  They're fast, though, and you'll need to use the pause button to keep up.  If you miss out on it, you'll have to search through town and try to find the household name.

You can go to Edit Town and split/merge households.  That way, you can take just the one Sim out of the house and place him into another household.

In the Sims 3, I like to plan out what gender my sims babies are going to be, and I often am not pleased with the results even after eating carrots or strawberries and listening to music. So I will usually lock my sims out of the nursery where their baby (babies) is and child services will usually come pick up the child because you are not caring for it. You can still meet up with your sims child through all their life stages. Although this seems like a cruel way to get rid of a child it always works for me

I have a fairly nice way to get rid of a child (or a Sim of any age) that I don't want. It takes a few steps to achieve though.

1) Make sure you have space for at least 1 extra Sim in your household.

2) Create a new sim (or add one from your library).

3) Merge that Sim with your household (their starting funds will be added to yours).

4) Use the "Split Household" function (note: this requires a Sim of YA or older).

5) Set the random Sim and the child into the split and they'll appear in the clipboard.

6) Select the family/household from the clipboard to find a Delete button. Click that.

And done.
