Neighbors Aging
« on: October 16, 2012, 07:11:20 AM »
Hi all, as you can see I am still getting the hang of the game mechanics and have many questions. For those playing for really long time like the immortal dynasties, after a long while, does the original neighbors all ages and dies off? And will there be new characters to replace them?

Yes, all the sims that live in your town will age up and die of old age eventually.
Story progression will move new sims in. Check the newspaper every day and you will see if new sims move in.

Matthew start as a adult. It must have been a long gaming session lol. :P
You can set the aging on long in the game options.

Only change the life span if it's not a dynasty though.  And yeah it's sad to see some of them age up but that's life especially in a generational game.

I recall reading others complain about town eventually filling up with vampires. I think it is not because vampires busy turning people, but simply vampires outlived regular people due to the much longer life span.

It is exciting to see children aging up to teen or YA, you get to see how they look with a new randomized hairstyle. Some became better looking due to that, and that is fun. But elders on the other hand... Luckily I havent bumped into Lola. =(

My practice family has very little friends coz I am busy skilling and taking care of the baby. Before this I have aging disabled since I havent learned how to get to Ambrosia quickly enough yet.

Havent started any dynasty, still learning the basics.

Hi, SimFreek
It's good to see you enjoy the game so much!
The original neighbours do indeed die off. But some of the original (and later) NPC's can survive for astonishing durations of time.
Lane Clementson (Sunset Valley) outlived five generations in one of the games I played for fun.
Beware of NPC's though, when you invite them to move in, they may just age overnight. :)

In one of my games in Moonlight Falls, I got to week 12. Since it was a dynasty I failed, I decided to see who was still around with Master Controller. Much to my shock, Helen Hall was still alive. She starts as a mature adult when you first play in Moonlight Falls, and she wasn't even turned into an occult. Not bad, Helen, not bad at all.

As for the vampires thing, it's both. I would hope that they would have more opportunities to reproduce and therefore give the town some original townie offspring for my sims to marry (after throwing potent cure elixirs at them, of course), but that doesn't seem to be the case. It makes me sad.

Louise, I usually have aging off, and only have it on when I have access to ambrosia and ready for a baby. This training project is for me to learn to better take care of babies, seeing and testing some gaming mechanics, and see how similar the daughter and the mother can be if the dad is almost identical to the mother. I was surprised to see Lotta still ages after she had ambrosia. Luckily I loaded my game and have her eat a life fruit. Really fortunate I saved in the beginning of the day, and came across that tip about life fruit.

Blip, that is just freaky with the aging overnight thing. It is also interesting to know that the game have different rules for the NPCs, shouldn't be hard for them to replace the NPC, no? My pizza delivery person changes once in a while. I wished they have similar age options for the original neighbors, like only our family ages. Since everytime you start a new game you get to see them, you grew attached. But then they grow old and die. Ugh.

InfraGreen, if vampires get to reproduce even more, a lot of fans will want to burn down the EA HQ, haha. I keep seeing people complain about the vampires and celebrities, and vampire celebrities, lol. It does get annoying when most of the opportunities I get are drink promotion, dance and workout.

Once I am done with the clone family project, perhaps its time to install Generations. I heard they have options to turn off celebrities. Or is it Supernatural? But then there is problem with the zombies.

It's Supernatural that lets you turn off celebrities and everything else except zombies.

Since you are a beginning player, you should be sure to look at Carl's Guide for help in almost everything.
