I love the titles of your chapters! They are so clever! I always finish reading the chapter then glance at the title again and laugh when I realize the hidden meaning. :)

Thanks, Easilyamusd!  This chapter was originally titled "Sentencing, part III" but then that Simler's mummy thing came into my head and I couldn't get rid of it so decided to use it.  I thought it might make people groan and roll their eyes!   ;D

I had thought that Simler would become a fairy instead of a mummy. (The title pun flew over my head, evidently :P) I'm glad that each of these villains have been justly punished, and I'm anxious to find out the final fate of Vita Alto.

I'm excited to find out what will happen to Vita. And I'm still curious about how Simler treated her, being a vampire and all.

Poor Holly.  I'm sure she'll be fair with her mother, but what a terrible position to be in!

Vita's sentence is gonna be the climax of this story... It simply has to be! But like I know Schip... I actually think I know what might be done.

Do you, then?  Well, after the next update, please let us know if the episode turned out as you expected.

Vita's sentence is going to be a turning point, for sure.  But it isn't going to be the end of the story.  There are a few more things to do before that happens.  Just so you know.  ;)

One of these days, those sims are going to escape from the Sim Bin, and directly into my hands. That will be the day.

I didn't put the title together with the entry till after, how clever it is! I almost feel like I'm reading a book, it is so well written and the suspense keep us wanting more!

First thing I thought of when I saw this title was: It would be cooler if they made Simler a vampire instead. But mummies are cool.  8) I'm not kidding that was the first thing I thought. I feel proud! 8)

I expected that from you, and kept it in mind too :) so I'm waiting patiently for Vita to... Nah, it's not in my good nature to spoil awesome moments like the next one! Wiry... Evil is no fun if good sims don't suffer for it, I'm sure you know that.

Mother and Daughter

Diary Entry

When we were in the basement discussing the sentencing, I had suggested to Holly that she might like to leave.  There was no need to put her through the embarrassment and stress of watching her mother being sentenced.

Holly's response to me was, "Leave?  Never.  I know you're just trying to spare me from having to watch the unpleasantness, and I appreciate that.  But you don't have to worry about me.  I was here in Sundown Town before any of you.  You all think you know this town, but you don't know it as I do.  You don't know what it's like to grow up in a town ruled by Evil.  My best friend, Bebe Hart, was banished from town because she was Good.  Along with a lot of other people I knew and liked.  And the worst part was knowing that the woman in charge of it all, the woman hated and feared by all, was my Mother.  I was there all along.  So I think I have a right to be there now that the reign of terror is finally coming to an end.  But there's one favour you can do for me, if you will.  Please, will you let me tell my mother her sentence?  I promise I won't let you down.  Please."

I wasn't sure this was a good idea and was opening my mouth to say no, when Mary caught my eye.  She didn't say anything, just nodded slightly and I knew she wanted me to agree with Holly's request.  With misgivings, I said yes.  But I was ready to step in at any moment if Holly faltered.

And now, the other three Evil overlords had all been banished.  It was time to deal with Vita.  I watched as Holly stepped up to her mother and looked her in the eye.  Mother and daughter stared at each other wordlessly for a few minutes, as if they were the only ones in the room or maybe the only ones in the whole world.

Then Holly began to speak.  Her voice was low but strong and firm.  "Mother, you know what you've done to this town.  You don't need me to tell you of the suffering you inflicted on the people of this town in your pursuit of glory, wealth and power.  We all know you were the leader, the concertmaster.

"Your crimes against the people of this town are many.  You caused many Good Sims and their families to be displaced and to have to flee from their homes.  You raised taxes so you and your cronies could live in luxury, accumulating that obscene wealth in the basement.  Meanwhile your overtaxed constituents have been living in squalor.  You caused the library and the art gallery to be torn down, and you turned beautiful Central Park into a gambling den to provide more revenue money for you to divert into your personal account."

Vita interrupted at this point, "Don't pretend you haven't benefited from the money I've earned!  You never complained about having a big comfortable house and all the luxuries your father and I could give you!  You Good Sims are such hypocrites.  Honestly, how did your father and I ever have such an ungrateful child!"

I was ready to step in and shut Vita up, but Holly didn't need my help.  She said to Vita, "Yes, thank you for reminding me that you are my mother.  I understand why you would feel a need to point it out, as it's easy to forget.  Would you like to remind me of all the times we went to the movies together, played games together, went on family outings?  What about all the heart-to-heart mother-daughter talks, all the times you comforted me when I was hurting, helped me with my homework, took an interest in my activities?  Would you like to remind me of those things, Mother?  No?  I wonder why not.  Could it be because none of them ever happened?  You never had time for me.  Being a mother wasn't going to make you rich, powerful, or famous, so you didn't see any reason to waste your time on it.  I didn't care about the expensive car or the rich house.  I just wanted a mother to love me!"

Mary, Goodwin and I had tears in our eyes at this point.  But not Vita.  She stared stony-faced at her only child.

Holly continued, "You told me that being your daughter wouldn't give me any leniency from you and your evil accomplices.  But Mother, I'm not like you, I'm pleased to say.  And my friends are definitely different from yours.  Mercy is not a dirty word to us.  You saw how Simler, Cruella and Marigold were all banished.  You don't deserve leniency but because you are my mother, you will not be banished.  We have devised another form of punishment for you.  Here it is."

With that, Holly raised a blue vial above her head and took aim at Vita.

Then Holly turned her back so she wouldn't have to watch Vita's transformation.

Goodwin, Mary and I watched in fascination as Vita was transformed from a tall, powerful, erect, arrogant woman in the prime of her life to a stooped, grey-haired old lady.  Suddenly she seemed not only older but shorter, weaker, less formidable - diminished in every way.

Vita gazed in dismay at the age spots and wrinkles that had suddenly appeared on the backs of her hands.

Then Holly handed Vita her cell phone and instructed her, "Now, Mother, you're old and tired, and it's time you had a well-deserved rest.  Phone City Hall and tell them you're retiring.  Do it now!"

I could tell Vita wanted to refuse, but she was alone with the four of us, with no one to back her up.  With a defeated air, Vita took the phone and made the call.

Finally, Holly said to her mother, "Don't even think of trying to stage a comeback.  The Good Sims are just waiting to hear that things are safe to return.  The library, art gallery, and Central Park are all going to be rebuilt to the original plans.  And we have a plan for dealing with your spies and the other Evil ones, so don't expect help from them.  My friends and I will be watching you closely, Mother, so I suggest you find a hobby and stay out of trouble."

Vita's power was gone.  Her evil gang was disbanded.  Her youthful vitality was no more.  And Vita just looked old, sad, and tired.

Eeeep! What a fitting sentence! Old age and weakness to a woman who craved power and immortality... Poetic justice indeed. And well done to Holly for having the strength to confront her mother. It can't have been easy on her.
