Sitting on the edge of my seat......Can't wait for more!! Mr. Payne continues to amaze and inspire, not to mention a healthy dose of fear. After all, if he has power over death, what else is he capable of?

Poetic Justice

Diary Entry

Of course, I wasn't going to put my trust in Mary Fairy's wild tale of rocks that grow.  No, I was sure the only way to increase the library fund was through continuing to write.  My children's books were very popular, but I thought the library probably should have different kinds of books so I decided to write at least one of each genre.  My horror story (a fictionalized account of Sundown Town) was a best-seller.  I was sure I could become a well-known poet with gems like this:

A bloodsucking vampire named Vita
Declared, "so glad to meet 'ya!
I'll give you a peck,
Then lunch on your neck,
And say what a pleasure to eat 'ya."

For some reason my book of poetry didn't win the Poet Simeate award, but it did burn out yet another computer.

As I waited for the new computer to be delivered, I worked on more showers.  I wanted to have at least 15 showers ready when the Good Sims started returning to Sundown Town, so I worked on showers between my books.

I had told Mary Fairy about Simler and the danger he posed to her and all other non-Sim residents in the town.  I urged her, in the strongest possible terms, to avoid him at all costs.  I was sure she would see the wisdom in that, especially after I found her reading about him on-line.

Diary Entry Ends

Nameless believed Mary would stay in her basement where she would be safe from Simler.  But once again, he underestimated her.  Mary's online research into Simler and his history had given her an idea.  Once Nameless was safely back in his study with the door closed, Mary changed into her bathing suit and crept up the stairs and out the door.  She drove her funny little vehicle to downtown Sundown Town.  And there, beside the book store, she found her quarry.

Yes, Mary had gone looking for Simler.  And even the vile Simler was not immune to her feminine charms, particularly when she flattered him by admiring his strength.

She had a bit of a setback when he discovered her Good trait.

But Mary quickly salvaged the situation by cleverly using the information her research had given her about Simler.  She had learned that the man had a weakness she could exploit:  he was a pronounced hypochondriac, preoccupied with the state of his health.  Mary told him she was a doctor.  His face lit up as he proceeded to tell her his symptoms.*

Then Mary transformed into a point of light, flashing around Simler.

Fortunately his aim with the fly-swatter wasn't very good and Mary was unharmed.  Reappearing before Simler, she resumed her pretence of being a doctor and asked him if one of his symptoms was seeing flashing lights.

When he said yes, Mary frowned and told him that it sounded like Simian Flu.  Very serious, possibly even fatal.  She told him the only treatment was called fairy dust, available by prescription only from physicians who were also fairies.  And that he should spend as much time as possible at home resting so as to not aggravate his condition.

Simler took his medicine and hurried home to rest.  For now, the Simler threat had been neutralized.  It seemed poetic justice that Simler should believe his well-being depended on a fairy.  But how long could Mary continue to pass herself off as a doctor and play on Simler's hypochondria?

* Simler's real-life model was indeed a notorious hypochondriac.  And both Mary and Nameless have the ability to brag about being doctors, even though neither of them ever worked a day in the medical career.  I think it must be part of their cover story, courtesy of Mr Payne.

What a clever way of thwarting Simler, Mary! Let us hope his obsession with health proves stronger than his obsession with evil, at least for a time. (though his model does not give me much hope)

That Simler is an idiot, hahaha! The comedy of that interaction blows Flintstone's poetry into the weeds!

I'd love to read Nameless' book of poetry - it seems hilarious!

I just got the pun! Poetic Justice, and Nameless is writing poetry! Hahaha!
Brilliant chapter overall, I'm sure we were all glad to see Mary pull one over on old Simler. It cracks me up that Nameless has a fairy as a roommate and doesn't believe in growing rocks or unmelting ice. Question though--surely Nameless has enough Handiness points after making all those showers self-cleaning to repair his own computer? Isn't he depleting the library funds by ordering new ones all the time?

Good point.  Yes, he could repair the computer himself.  I haven't actually timed the repairs or worked out the hourly return of writing a children's book (counting the 6 weeks of royalties, of course), but the reason he's been buying new computers instead of doing the repairs is that I think it's a better use of his time.  Of course, I could be wrong.  It's a management decision, and my Sims are always complaining about the management, so now Nameless can join the rest of my Sims who love to complain about me!  ;)

I think it may be better to fix them, it saves money. Or you could invest one amount of time in making one unbreakable.

Yes, but does it save more money than he could make using the time to work on a children's book?  With all the writing skill challenges completed, those kids' books go quite quickly and will earn royalties for 6 weeks, plus the initial payment.  Maybe it really is more cost-efficient to repair the computer, but I just don't know so I've been having him replace them.

It would be far more efficient to just upgrade it to be unbreakable. Don't forget, you need other kinds of books, like poetry  ;D

Oh yeah, I didn't think of that! If you upgrade it to unbreakable, it's a one-time commitment and you're good forever.
