Ladies and Gentlemen, meet Sundown Town's newest resident.  The evil and ultra-nasty Adolph Simler:

The moustache isn't quite right, of course, but I think he's not bad.  I don't have a story idea for him yet, beyond just moving him in.

Ooh, will Mary's story be seperate or shown as a part of Nameless' battle?
And you're still mean and not telling us what Mr. Payne had to say when he came to visit next because he hasn't come back yet.  :P

So many questions!

I think at this point maybe I should say that I don't do any of the planning that people are supposed to do when writing a story.  I get an idea, and if it won't leave me alone, I dive in and see where it goes.  In other words, I rarely have much of a long-term plan.  Things evolve as we go along.  The story and the characters tell me what should come next.  Frankly, if I did all the work planning and developing character that most people seem to feel is necessary, I'd be bored and would probably never write anything.  What keeps me going is that I don't know what's coming next!  To be honest, I think some of my most interesting plot twists have come from game bugs, glitches, random events in the game, or even comments from readers.

So the answer to your questions is - I don't have the answers!  Let's just wait and see what happens.

But I can tell you that Mr Payne is going to arrive soon.  Next episode, in fact.

I thinks he has a very good likeness, especially with that coat.
Of course I have many questions!  :P It's a sign of a good writer you know, if you can finish a chapter and have questions burning to be answered haha.

Besides, questions could always help with forming new ideas.
Yay for a new update to resolve a question or two soon!  :)

Ps....Met Ciaran yet?

Jack the Knife was awesome, it made me laugh out loud. Also, he has a very rakish air.

Like you I never really plan my stories, I always feel what the sims come up with themselves are so much more interesting than anything I ever think of first.

I feel sorry for Mary, she seems very lonely.  Adolph Simier is a very good likeness. ;)

I agree with Salt, I liked Jack.  But what was Mary doing with him in his bedroom?  I'm hoping Jack isn't what he seems.......

Thanks to you, Wiry, for the idea!  :D

I have an idea for Adolph's back story that fits with his historical counterpart.  I think you're going to enjoy seeing Adolph in action, a few episodes from now.

Now where's Doctor Evil from Austin Powers, hmmm? Yeah that baldy should bring some absurdity to that serious bunch... Still evil, just dumb and useless, lol! And SO 1970's...

Don't forget Mini Me! :P

I've been sneakily following this story since soon after it started, and I just have to say that I think this might be one of your best, Schip.

Payneful News - Mission Aborted?

Diary Entry

Mr Payne arrived early one morning, slipping in under cover of darkness as was his custom.  His expression as he stepped through the door seemed sombre, unlike his usual cheery demeanour.

I briefly wondered what might be troubling the old fellow, but he quickly rearranged his features and beamed at me.

"Good news!" he exclaimed.  "I managed to track down your ex-wife and daughter.  They've been living in [name of town redacted].  Your ex-wife is still adamant about not allowing you to have contact with Ashynna, but I persuaded her to allow me to commission an artist to paint a portrait of your daughter for you."  He added apologetically, "I'm afraid the only artist willing to accept the commission on short notice was quite inexperienced, so it's not a very good painting."

I didn't care if it wasn't a masterpiece!  To think that I would have a portrait of Ashynna!  I knew just where I would hang it - on the wall of my bedroom where it would be the last thing I saw every night and the first every morning.  I stammered out my thanks as he handed me the portrait.

I was eager to tell him of all the progress I had made.  Just wait until he saw all the showers I had made self-cleansing!  I knew he would be as excited as I.

But his face settled back into its dejected mien as he said, "Let's sit down.  I have bad news.

"We've run into a hitch in our plan to return the Good Sims to Sundown Town.  Only one Good Sim is willing to come.  His name is Goodwin Goode.  He'll be a splendid addition to the town.  A good friend of mine from Dimension H, Ombradellarosa, speaks very highly of him.  I'll let you know where he'll be living so you can deliver one of your showers to him."  And then he sighed.  "But it's not enough.  None of the others will come."

I couldn't believe my ears.  None of the others would come, after all the work I had done on the showers?  Why?

Mr Payne explained, "They don't want to come back to a town with no library and no art gallery.  They don't want to live in a cultural wasteland where there is no support for literature and the arts.  And one can hardly blame them."

I asked why it was that Goodwin Goode was willing to come.  Mr Payne replied, "Goodwin is a special case.  For as long as he can remember, he has been living with an Evil roommate.  It can't be an easy situation, but it does mean he's accustomed to dealing with Evil Sims and is not as intimidated by them as others might be.  He knows of your mission here and wants to help.  He'll be bringing his Evil roommate as cover."

Then the old man looked me straight in the eye and said, "I know how hard all this has been on you.  I don't blame you for wanting to leave.  When we first met, I remember thinking 'Mission Highly Unlikely.'"  He said sadly, "It would have been more accurate to say, 'Mission Impossible.'  I think we have no choice but to abort the mission.  You and Mary can go home.  I'll pay your back taxes and bills and see if we can get your old house back for you."

Noooooo!

Mr Payne is giving up? I never thought to see the day. It's time for nameless to put on the big boy pants and show him it can be done.
