Toddler traits
« on: October 13, 2012, 04:31:22 AM »
Hi guys, if I dont pick any traits for my toddler, will I be able to pick them when they aged up into the next life stage?

I had my first baby and I dont really like the traits available for my baby. I did end up picking Friendly and Eccentric for her though, since I wanted her to be an inventor.

Welcome to our Forum.

For example, when the toddler ages to child, you will be able to pick out the one trait that is added to children IF the toddler has learned all of his walking, talking, and potty skills.  You won't be able to change the existing traits that were assigned at birth without using some kind of cheat.

Hi Pam, thanks for the welcome! Ya I am new here, sorry I kinda just started posting without any intro. I just started playing a few weeks ago and got hooked, the game is really addicting and fun!

Anyway yes, assuming the baby aged up well. During the 2 initial trait selection, if I dont pick any trait, or just pick one, when the toddler aged up well again, will I get to choose the traits out of the larger pool of traits available?

Thanks again!

Well since nobody knows the answer, I went ahead and did the experiment myself. I picked only 1 trait when the baby is born. (good birth, I get to choose traits) And when the toddler aged up again, I was again offered to choose trait, but only 1. That means I unknowningly forfeited trait selection and therefore screws up the sim future for the sim baby. I am so sim sad. =(

The baby is quite adorable though, despite a slightly glitched face. I will keep aging her up, hopefully she turns out as beautiful as her mother.

You can add the missing traits using testingcheatsenabled true -> shift+click -> Modify traits of current Sim. Otherwise, you'll have to choose from the traits the game offers unless you're not averse to using mods to unlock traits for babies, unfortunately.

Hey Sweetest Pea thanks for the tip! I usually dont cheat, aside from fixing game glitches, but I guess this time is an exception.

I will try to age her up to adulthood and see if I can repick 5 traits, or if the trait is really limited to 4. I will keep you guys posted on the result!

Btw, is there anyway to fix a glitchy sim face? My new baby girl has a slight protrusion on her chin, you can see similar stuff on CAS when you adjusted the chin a bit too much.

If it's an infant, it may correct itself over time as she ages.   As for the trait, because you didn't choose one, it won't let you choose one again; however, I can confirm that if you use the cheat, you can place a trait into the missing slot.  It's a common bug for a picked trait to not "stick" and sometimes you have to put it back which is when I use the cheat.   Doesn't matter if you do it as a toddler, child, teen or YA, using the cheat will allow you to fill in all the spaces available - be it 2 or 5.  You didn't freeze yourself out of an available slot by not choosing one.

Hey Ricalynn, it did. She aged up and the glitchy chin is gone, praise the gods!

As you can see during her toddler days the face is perfect.

The flawed chin during her child life stage.

Perfect chin during teen years! Just in time!

I was so happy! With the same hairstyle, its like looking into a mirror with her mother!
