Can I create sims without starting a new game?

I'm really interested in creating sims to upload. I've got lots of ideas for looks but I don't want to start a new game every time I want to create more. I know there's a separate 'create a sim' program, but I'm not sure if that would work.

Does anyone know how to do this?

You can't create sims without a new game. There was an external CAS, but it's pretty much dead now.

I create a lot of sims, and having to load up a new world in order to make sims is just something I've gotten used to.

The external CAS NEEDS an update (but EA doesn't seem interested -.-)

But you can create sims and save them without a new game, just choose a savegame, create them and keep them in the bin.

Do you mean without opening a game file at all? I don't think there's a way to do that without using the separate program.

If you just want to do it from an existing save file, go into Edit Town (on the ... menu at the bottom left in Live Mode) and select create sims.

I'll probably keep a save game just for creating sims, although I tried doing that before and ended up playing, lol.

Don't you just have to go to edit town and click create a new family?  Is that feature really taken away?!  Or is that not what you meant?  I hope it's not taken away.  I like that feature.  I'm going to make it my duty to test it!  Off to sims 3 I go!


Edit: after looking around on the forum it's off to sims I go.

No, it is not taken away, you can still go to edit town and then create sims.  That is my favorite way, so they better not do away with it, lol.

Saltypaws is right. If my sim can't get the man of her dreams after a few weeks, I go to Edit Town and create him. I also, made her a "familiar" since the adopted cats are aweful!

Hi.

Yes I meant Edit Town. But saving a save file just for creating sims, not for playing them. What's happened is I went into a game I'm playing, decided to create more sims using edit town, but I've now ended up switching households and playing the new household. My colourful purple and blue family, with a genie mother who wants to be a mistress of seduction even though she's married with nooboos. Tut tut! He's obsessed with cars, so maybe she feels a bit left out...
