Detonating, A new and improved method than Sabotage

As many of you heard or experienced, when inventing skill reaches 5 or 6 you can start detonating objects.

Well I did some experimental work, and one involved the Knack Family, my sim was able to stay with the Knacks for the night, My Sim woohoo-ed their daughter Julienne and then fell asleep, her parents was sleeping in the other room,

So... I woke up in the middle of the night and sneaked into her parents room and set a bomb on their bed, then my sim ran out of the room and waits for the explosion. The mother woke up and left to the bathroom while the father still sleeps... 3...2...1... BOOM!!!

Nick Knack survived the explosion, lost his clothes and his hair sticking up and covered in dust/debris... When my sim talked to him... It says "Nick Knack is Very Angry with you"

Really funny :3

Julienne gave birth to my sim's son that very same night (after the explosion)

Oh and the relation to the topic is,

Though sabotage can fail, it has a chance to kill sims who fix it, but chances of sims fixing it is little (non-playable) and such....

Whereas detonation is non-lethal but really funny and can start fires... And fires are lethal... If your closeby and cowardous

Hmmm, I saw that action when my sim was going to bed.  I clicked on the bed and had the option to "detonate" and her husband was asleep.  I thought, that is just not right, who would do that.  Well, you answered that question.  lol

I am not too crazy about the aspect of purposely blowing up sims, whatever a person does with their sims is their own way of playing.  I like blowing things up, but I think I will make sure there are no sims that can get hurt.  Heck I get goosebumps when grimmy  takes my sims that I have played since day one.  When I first got the detonate, I was blowing everything up, that was pretty neat, cars, furniture, everything.

I've always wondered how to get the Gold Digger LTW, since I have no idea how to kill a sim. This sounds easy!

You don't have to actually kill a Sim to get that LTW.  Just marry someone old and wait for him/her to die.  Killing isn't actually a part of normal gameplay by design.  You have to build walls and such to make it happen, so it's not intended by the developers to just be able to kill a Sim.  Plus, it doesn't sound like this detonating would kill one anyway.  Probably just give them a good singe.

People have killed other sims since Sims 1, so I think the creators are pretty aware of it, it's just that they can't give you murder weapons and keep it child friendly. ;)

And then, detonations can be deadly due to the fires they may start.

I don't mean that the developers aren't aware of it.  I know they are, but that's not the intent of the game design.  It's not a killing game and the deaths are meant to be accidents unless it's old age.  I know there are lots of people who play that way and I'm not saying it's right or wrong...  just that the game isn't designed specifically to kill Sims.  To me, it's one thing to be cooking waffles on a cheap stove, have an accidental fire, and the Sim dies as a result.  It's something else entirely to put rugs and flammable items near a stove, then wall in the Sim so he can't escape the flames, and deliberately kill him.  Yes, it can be done and everyone knows it, but you have to go outside of normal gameplay (Build Mode) to do it.

I hope that makes sense and I'm not talking in circles.  :)

Or your could play the game for two hours, get electrocuted, then attempt to upgrade the same stereo again without thinking.  That's the biggest doofus move I've done.

I was detonating the counters at the consignment store to let off some aggression over the consignment bugs, and noticed the counters would come back within a few seconds.

Whoa! I foresee much scrappage and maybe a skill challenge met in my sims' future!

I have to agree with Pam on the fact that it's not in the game's design to kill sims. You kind of have to go out of your way to kill a sim; e.g. Put a broken t.v. in a puddle, put rugs around a cheap fireplace with no doors, build walls around a pool with sims in it, etc.

But yet some of the stuff actually happens without doing those things.
Leaving fireplaces unattended...
Becoming fatigued in the pool...
Accidentally having your Sim repair another thing after they've already been electrocuted...
Hehe, so I think the game is designed quite well and very balanced, seeing as we can MAKE it happen, but it can also JUST happen. :) Kind of like life, however... I don't see many people running around detonating other people while they are asleep... ;)
