New to PC version, having issues with tutorial.
« on: September 27, 2012, 04:32:49 PM »
So up until now, I've always played Sims from a gaming console (runs much faster, might I add), but after my PS3 crashed, I had to convert to PC to get my fix. I recently got supernatural and started FRESH with new sims, new household, EVERYTHING. I made a two person family featuring a witch and vampire who I made boyfriend and girlfriend. I bought a house and moved in. Here comes the FIRST issue - only my female showed up at the house. I can't find my vampire male anywhere. I don't know how to switch to him, he isn't in the house...I made him, he's supposed to be part of the household...where the heck is he?? It doesn't give me the option to switch to him anywhere...I'm super confused. How do I find him and get him into the house? He's supposed to live there, TOO!

Second problem: while going through the tutorials, it tells me that I can open my "options menu" at any time by clicking on the circle button with "..." on it in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. From there, supposedly I can access the game's options and save the game. However, it only let me click on it while it showed the icon in the tutorial, but after that, no matter what I do I can't get the options menu to come up. I click on the button repeatedly...nothing. It gives the shortcut command of F5 to open it - so I try that - nothing. I started the game up late last night, so I pretty much wanted to quit right after I got my people moved into the house and furniture bought - but I couldn't even SAVE or bring up the options menu to "Exit" the game. In fact, I couldn't find my way out of the game at all...hitting "ESC" on the keyboard didn't work, NOTHING worked. Eventually I just got fed up and hit "ctrl, alt, dlt" and brought up the computer's task manager and killed the program that way. I don't even know if it saved anything at ALL. I know that it allowed me to save ONCE when it first showed me the "options menu" button in the tutorials, so I'm hoping that stuck, but even that will mean I have to re-buy my furniture and other stuff.

Why am I having these problems? Can anyone help me find the rest of my household/family, teach me how to get them into the house, and explain to me why my menus aren't working right or what I'm doing wrong? As far as the menus go, I thought perhaps it just won't let you save the game or exit until you fulfill a certain tutorial thing or something. As in, it's purposely not an option until you complete a certain task or something? But I tried going through the tutorial and setting up my house and that didn't make the option available. :-\

PLEASE help, I've search google for answers and came up with a whole lotta NOTHIN'.

When you start the tutorial only one sim will show up. The tutorial isn't long Just finish it, your second sim will show up. If you do t want to do the tutorial you can exit it. if you do a reinstall you must do the tutorial. I always exit it.

As far as I know, I got through the tutorial. It even had this message that popped up at the end that said something like, "It looks like the rest of your household has come home!" or something like that...but he never showed... :-\

As Joanne said I think you should start a new game and before you go into the tutorial you should exit it. There should be a chance to exit it when you first load up your chosen town. Click the "..." Menu button and then select Edit Town. A Pop-Up will say "Are you sure you want to exit the Tutorial" click Yes. It takes you to edit town mode, then at the top of the screen click the button to take you back to Game Set-Up. From there Move-In Family at the bottom left, hopefully your two Sims you made were saved on leaving CAS to the Library and should be there for you to select and then move into an empty lot or a house.

Welcome to the Forum by the way! Hope you get your game working and can enjoy it soon!  :)

I'm also moving this to the Miscellaneous Help Board as it does not directly relate to Supernatural.
