Be Careful with the new Mood Lamp
« on: September 21, 2012, 07:13:39 PM »

I was experiencing a weird glitch earlier today while playing, but I figured out what was going on. Figured I'd share with y'all so hopefully you can avoid the frustration.

The new mood lamp in supernatural provides little moodlets. While one of these moodlets is on your sim, they cannot "try for baby" or age up whether by birthday cake or naturally. So, if you're experiencing trouble aging up or trying to make a baby, check for the moodlet and get rid of it. My sims were getting a permanent moodlet from the lamp even when they weren't in the same room or lot as the lamp anymore, so it took me awhile to figure out what was going on.

I knew about the "Try For Baby," but I didn't know about the aging up. Thanks for the tip!
A 1920s era house needing heat, AC, new floors, new drywall on the walls and ceilings, new bathroom fixtures, new kitchen cabinets, new water heaters.... The roof is sound, but why didn't I just buy an empty lot?

Thanks! That might explain why one of my kids just refused to age up no matter what I did. I was so confused why nothing worked not even letting her age naturally.

I also had a Sim (not a fairy) whose skin color kept going funny - green once and yellow a couple of times.  I wasted a couple of hours digging around on the boards to see if this was a known bug until I finally noticed that she had a moodlet for "feeling yellow" caused by "mood lamp".  Sheesh!

Thank you! I finally got my witch pregnant, and she gave birth to a little adorable witch girl. It was all her fairy fiance's fault. He keeps having the mood lamp moodlet when he's been nowhere near a lamp! I was so frustrated at having them try for a baby all the time. Although they seemed to enjoy it, lol.

I expected them to have triplets since they both have the fertility treatment but she only had one. Probably for the best since there is already an adopted toddler, two adult dogs and three puppies in the house...

By the way, I think I read somewhere that the moodlamp attracts zombies so you could put one outside your house far away from the garden, I haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to experiment with it.

The most babies she was able to have was two, since Sims plus pets can only equal 10. :)

The Mood Lamp works incredibly well with zombies. They are indeed attracted and keep staring at the lamp for hours. I find it much better than the peashooter because there is nothing to micro-manage, when often I have to give instructions to the peashooter.

Thanks for sharing this information!  :) I had been wondering why my sims' baby wouldn't age up (both with the birthday cake and naturally -the age was stuck ag 0 days for several Sim days). Even forcing the baby to age up using cheats didn't work for the first couple of tries (and I hate using cheats).

There was a mood lamp in the room, it was the first time using the object. I'll remove the lamp now until this issue is fixed.

Thank you. I'm using a lamp outside to attract the zombies. I will keep a eye on my sims aging.

I too had problems with my one young sim not aging up. I didnt realize it was the mood lamp.  Funny thing too she was the most attracted to it and always had a positive moodlet from it.  I had her blow out the candles on the cake 3 times and nothing happened.  It didnt happen naturally either.  Thank-you!

You also can't save Sims in the Library, (household bin) while the Sims are under the affect of the lamp, it's considered by the game to be a transformation, like a werewolf.
We are of peace, always but this is war.
We are of peace, always.
We'll help build a resistance. We have to fight.

When all you've ever loved has been stolen from you, sometimes all you have left is revenge.
For the truly wronged, satisfaction can be found in one of two places,  absolute forgiveness or mortal vindication. This is not a story about forgiveness. When deception cuts this deep, someone has to pay.

I wonder why the game considers it to be a transformation.

How do you get rid of the moodle that comes with the mood lamp? I am trying to age my faerie child up and I can't figure out how to get rid of the moodlet from the mood lamp

I wonder why the game considers it to be a transformation.

Could be because it changes the skin color.
