Neighborhood is turning into a ghost town
« on: September 15, 2012, 07:56:26 PM »

And not in a fun haunting sort of way either. Currently I'm playing in Appaloosa Plains and i'm on Day 6 of Week 1 and a lot of townies have moved  or just aren't there. I went into Edit Town to look at who is living where and there are a lot more empty houses than I've ever seen in a neighborhood so early. The Parrott family moved, The Bird Sisters are just gone, Gracie Loveland is gone, Rodney Singleton, Valarii Chandra and Hetty Lionheart, The Martingales moved out too.

Maybe there's a terrible meteor shower coming? Maybe they all decided to head over to Moonlight Falls? Whatever the reason my Sims are starting to feel mighty lonely.

If you don't mind the "pudding-faced" EA generated sims, place a whole bunch of consignment registers on a community lot, and the game will generate more sims to man the registers. They will move into the empty houses around town.

That's so ingeniously simple a solution it's crazy! One I'll never forget. Whether I am ever in this situation or not.

Have a  couple of questions in that area.  There are a lot of one bedroom homes in the towns, which to me limits families being created by the game.

Plus, to me there is way to many empty lots.  If you build houses with two bedrooms on those empty lots, will that help more families to move in?  Does it matter?

If you add the registers to a community lot, would it be a family created for each register?

I suggest you start a new game, go straight to edit town and move all the families to the clipboard, then isave to your library.  Don't save the game.  Return to your game and when they move out, you can simply move them back in.  Or take families, in the same way from any town you like and use them to populate your game town.
