Gardening Glitch - Tend Garden?

I think I've heard of this glitch before. Where you tell your sim to Tend Garden. They maybe tend to one or two plants and then they glitch or forget what they're doing.

At first I thought it was player error.  So I qued up a few Tend Garden commands thinking that'd help. *Shaking Head - No* I sent them both off to Tend Garden. Well I zoomed out so I could watch them both. One gardener tended one plant then glitched to the corner.  The other one just stops, like she forgot what she was doing.

Anyone else having the same problem still or is it just me?  And if you were able to fix it, let me know that too?

I thought I'd make note that I'm going to try Weeding, watering and harvesting to see if that glitches too or what happens.

A lot of people have been reporting this sort of problem since the most recent patch.  It's working in my game (touch wood), and I don't know if any of the people experiencing the problem have found a solution yet.

I have had the problem as well and it still isn't fixed for me. I believe it did come with the latest patch. What works for me is having the sim do one plant at a time. It's time consuming though. I noticed it doesn't happen in the new game I started after the patch.

This glitch has been talked about a lot in the Patch 1.38 thread.   The main part of the glitch is that your Sim probably has a blank page in their collector's journal where the plants should be.  This causes them to reset after tending garden to one plant.  I can also lock your plants in the harvest stage and they won't continue their life cycle.  Some people have had success with a resetSim * to reset the plants but the Sim will still have the problem.  The only known fix  so far for the problem with the Sim is twallan's overwatch mod.  Otherwise any Sim that has a blank collector's page under the plant tab will continuously have problems.  Any Sim that starts gardening after the patch is fine however.

Thanks for the reply. I had a feeling it might have something to do with patch 1.38.

Little about my current game. It's a previous game save from yesterday, created in a new The Sims 3 Folder. I'm updated to the latest patch, playing in Moonlight falls. Mods are installed = Master Controller/cheats, Overwatch, Register, Story Progression/Expanded/Extra, Traffic, and Velosity Grass No memories.

While playing yesterday, game worked fine. Sim people were created previously, but they weren't created as gardeners. I made them into gardeners in this game. Does this make a difference?

Today, I evicted the family, so I could save them seperately from the house, then saved the house. So I could have a backup copy of the family and house.

Put them back into the house and had them do other things till after the plants growing time. Had them start with Tend Garden, that's when I noticed the glitch. 

I went back into my game. Noticed Harvesting is glitched. Even harvesting on another lot seems to be glitched. Weeding and fertilizing seems to be working though.

Does "Sharing" the house and creating a new game for them help?  Was thinking of trying that next.

I haven't tried "Sharing" the house with household and creating a new game.

I had a game save from yesterday that I went back to and am trying it to see if they're "glitched"  I figured since I had the family saved, and the house saved. And today's game is glitched. So why not go back to yesterdays game. Won't be losing much.

So far, so good. But haven't testing all of the Sim people in the family to see if they can Tend and Harvest. I checked one gardener's plant page and it was looking good.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the others are okay too.

We ran into the issue again, but didn't try a whole lot of troubleshooting. However did find that reset everything via Nraas MasterController doesn't work, neither does MC's Reset Lot. I saved the game, and then quit to main menu to try a test save.

I tested the house/gardening lot in the new test-save and the Sims were able to tend garden just fine. So I quit without saving, and went back into my main save and was able to get my Sims to tend garden again. -- My best guess is something hiccuped while playing.

If you run into this issue again, try this:  Save, Quit the game and reload the game.

It works wonders. *Blush* Just wanted to leave the tip, just in case it happens again.. and we're searching for answers. lol

Going back to a previous game saved helped. Everyone's plant pages look good, and they can harvest and tend garden.

I tried reset Sim, along with resetting everything, using Master Controller and that didn't seem to help. Wasn't sure what to tweak with Overwatch.   

Was also thinking I'd pull everyone back into Create a Sim, and save them to Sim Bin, and then create a new family with their Sim Bin files. Making them loose all their skills and what-not. But really didn't want to have to do that. As they all had lots of harvestables in each of their inventories.

What do I think happened?  I think what happened was something glitched when I evicted them out of their house and saved household. But why. I'm not sure.

Not sure if it is related to this problem but I told my sim to tend the garden and he walked a few steps toward it and reset back to the front yard. Tried a couple more times with the same effect.
So I tried to click a spot in the garden and told him to go there and he almost reached the garden and reset again.
I had my garden fenced in so I deleted the gate and and the section of fence it was in and told him to tend the garden and he went right on in an tended the garden with no problem. I replaced the gate and haven't had a problem sense. So there was a problem with the gate for me.

A new sim, in a new town certainly seems to have no problems, except if you have a holiday home (WA).  I have always done my gardenning on vacation.  But, gardennng in China and France is certainly still broken even with a completely new sim, for me anyway.  I've not earned the right to a home in Egypt yet, so can't confirm that it is broken there.

Gardeniing works fine while the plants are growing.  It is the harvesting where the problem occurs.

Not sure if it is related to this problem..So there was a problem with the gate for me.

It's not related to the patch or glitch. I had a problem with my gate pre-patch, and I still have a problem with my front door and paparazzi.

I'm having the same problem where my Sim will only tend/weed/harvest one plant and then stop.  It's my Townie DecaDynasty file with a huge garden.  I've tried "resetsim *" to no avail.  The heir is ready to move out, so I'll see if it does the same thing in the new house.

I realized I had this problem in my Townie Decadynasty game. I don't mind having to remind them to work on the garden; they usually finish up on the second time. But it's very frustrating that plants bear fruit only once. My current heir may fail to finish before she becomes an elder because of it.

Pam, check your heir's collections journal for the "plant" page when they move. If it's empty, you still have the bug.

This is incorrect - My sims started gardening AFTER I had installed patch 1.38 and I have this "problem" that if I plant seeds, the plants will turn into harvest stage over night. It's actually pretty great but it feels like cheating
