are there any rules against using the Midnight hollow content like the titanic toy machine?

I haven't seen the Team make a decision one way or the other for the toy machine, but I'd wait for an official statement. I know that they approved Midnight Hollow itself and the Savvy Seller content.

Yes, it's ok to use the titanic toy machine.  Nothing from the midnight hollow world is ban right now, however if you do see something that you feel should be ban, please let us know.

I just read the guide on mermaids and I believe that without using the Mermadic Kelp LTW, you have to be in Isla Paradiso to get the kelp. The only way to get it from another mermaid is underwater at a Dive Lot.

Jamie, mermaids can appear in any towns, random townies will change to mermaids, just look for the colorful legs.

Okay, so, um, I was fiddling around with my founder's inventory to grab some fish to sell and somehow his whole inventory emptied, including his fishing certificate. He didn't gain any cash either. Help, please?

Close his inventory, open somebody's else inventory, then go back and open your founder inventory, it should be there.  If not, have you tried clearing your cache and restart the game?

I don't have another household member yet and exiting without saving is against the rules, is there anything else I can do?

Close your founder inventory bag, then open his bag up again.  I had this bug once but it solve itself pretty fast.

I'm not asking you to exit without save, you can exit but save the file under a different name.  After you exit, clear out your cache then restart the game, load into the new file and see if it solves the problem.

Okay, so I want to be absolutely clear on this one thing. I really want my founder to marry an alien but so far none has popped up. If I get all of his requirements done, including the best friend, could I extend his life before the next heir is born or do I have to wait?

You don't need to have an heir to extend life. All you have to do is complete all of your requirements.

A way to get some aliens to visit you is to place some space rocks on your lot.
