Did you change her clothes? I had the same problem before and that simple trick fixed it.

I saw that glitch on one of the sims at the tattoo place! Oh, and is an old friend the same thing as bff? I have three more things to do before gen 2 can be born, and this is one of them (the other is for gen 2 to be born )

If the Old Friend has the same amount of relationship as a BF would, meaning that the friendship bar is almost full then yes it's the same thing.  An Old Friend is just basically a Sim you have been friends or higher with for a long time.

It's pretty full. It's belinda crumplebottom, I just sucked up to boss at work, nothing else! Also, does the BFF status have to be in place just at conception or maintained til birth? She's an elder, so not sure. (So strange, considering my fairy isn't even halfway through her YA phase!)

BF status has to be in place when all other requirements are in place.  Once you've hit that point where everything is in place - then you can do as you see fit but that person still cannot become friends with anyone else in the household.

Now I'm confused, the last requirement to be fufilled will be to have first child. So... it has to be maintained throughout the entire pregnancy? What if she passes before my sim gives birth?

Then I would have another one in the works.   You have to be best friends with your best friend at the time that all requirements are met.   Since you're using the First Child wish that means that she has to be best friends at the time that your final wish is completed.  Otherwise you fail at the time of the birth because you brought in the next generation without having all of your requirements finished.

Will do. Also, I presume it's ok to have different types of plants (one being an egg she grew) for masoleum?

Yes although remember that plants will die and the dead plants will have to remain in the mausoleum.  If you wanted you could just place produce like an egg instead and then you might not get the occasional "HEY I want to throw that away and you won't let me!" when they try to remove the dead plants.
