I just want to double check that it is okay not to age up my teen once he has completed his teen tasks. Cashew,my vampire heir,is working on the angler skill challanges and it makes life easier if he can go out during daylight hours.

Once you've fulfilled the requirements for a life stage, the ability to cake up early is purely at the player's discretion.  You don't have to age him up if you don't want to.

Edit:

I just had a Sim return from boarding school in a different game, where he picked up his last trait. Would that be considered random enough? Probably most people will want to age up their teens as soon as they've completed all their requirements, but I might consider boarding school if a teen had 4 really bad traits. Would that be permissible, or considered an exploit?

This would be considered an exploit because it's not really a random trait.  It's from a small pool of very specific traits.   So boarding school is not banned but allowing the boarding school to choose the trait of an heir is.  Bring them home early for their birthday.

I have a question concerning the opportunity for a child heir: can a school outing count?

I have a bug in my file, where my fairy can't go up or down any stairs in the lot. She just disappears while doing it and goes back up or down where she started. It's only affecting that household member, the others are fine. I already tried resetSim and restarting the game (and the laptop) and it didn't work. I remember I fixed this once by evicting the sim or the family and then bringing him/them back. So... do I have permission to do that? And if that doesn't work, is it OK to go back to my previous save?

I know you say it's only effecting one household member but did you try replacing the stairs just in case?  I hate to say use Edit Town if something like replacing the stairs does work.

I thought field trips were part of a school day.  If it doesn't fill an opportunity slot, why would it count as an opportunity?

Edit: Metro thought they filled the opportunity slot because it's been that long since he got one.   If it doesn't fill an opp slot it can't be considered as an opp for the requirements.

Oh, right. Thanks for responding so quickly! I was kind of grasping at straws. My werewolf heir, Tomjon, had ONE day left before his teenage birthday and he has had no opportunities come up! I had just finished posting, went back to my game, and voilą! The Scavenger Hunt opportunity came up. He was just able to complete it before he aged up. So that's me satisfied, the requirements satisfied, and you got a chance to laugh at Metropolis Man!  :P

Hi guys,

Since the birth of my 2nd gen triplets I have a weird flat pitch black oval shape on the floor in the dining room. If I hoover over it, the game says the standard sentence that "you can't remove an object in use". It is not an object, or at least I definately never placed anything there. No sims use anything and it is not possible to pick it up. Does anyone know what causes this problem and have a solution please? I'll try to post a picture later, but I have to check again how to do that first.

Edit: Here's the picture:

Edit 2: I went at least 7(!) save games back and even there I have the same problem... :(
Edit 3: In an old save game I have tested with the cheat Moveobjects if I could move it and I can! It stays a weird black oval flat shape. No idea what it is. My last option is to quit and restart the game to see if that helps, but if not I hope I may use Moveobjects to delete it. (It has a price of § 0,- btw)
Edit 4: After restarting the game it is still there... Please say that I can use Moveobjects to delete it.
Problem? Don't panic! There is always a solution. You just have to find it  :D

Thank you!!! :)

Edit:
Another question: Is it allowed to age babies up with the birthday cake?

You can age them up early if they are a spare but if they're the heir, you have to wait until their birthday and then you can use the cake on their birthday, not before.
