I just started a new Lifestate dynasty and have finally acquired sufficient funds to begin construction on my house. As I started with the nursery I saw a few items that I bought but not played with as yet.  I'm unsure whether they are premium items or not. They are: the head start playpen and the local motion toddler walker. Am I allowed to use them?
I assume you can use premium content because many dynasty players use the toddler swing in their stories. I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed to, although wait for a member of the challenge team to confirm this.  :)

There is no rule against Premium Content in Dynasties. You may be thinking of the Tournament.

That may be so! Phew - I was hoping I could use a few new items in my forth attempt! Thanks for answering so quickly.  :)

With the release of Dragon Valley on May 30th, all players of the dynasty challenges are asked to refrain from using any of it's content until the challenge board team has had time to review what is being released.

If you want to explore the new content, that is what a new game is for.   Dynasties are not allowed to be started in this world until after the go ahead is given.   That means don't start one saying "Oh they'll approve it of course.  I just won't post until they do."

Remember the challenge team is made up of people, too.   Two out of three have children of their own while the other one's job centers around children.  We have families and we would like to play some ourselves while still making sure you guys have all the information you need.   Just like with University Life, we will get back to everyone as soon as is possible with our three schedules.   This material is not banned infinitely.  Just for now.

Thank you.

I have difficulty with the family funds cheat, I don't know why. So would it be possible to buy really expensive items (Place them in Family Inventory) and swear not to ever sell or use them?

You shouldn't have any problems with it.   Are you sure you're doing the cheat right? Make sure that you know exactly what your household is named.   The name can be edited before you leave CAS.

For a founder named grizelda with a family household name of Gremlin for instance.

I didn't realize that testing cheats had to be enabled. Thank you very much!

Announcement: It has recently come up that people change life states after traits are rolled.   This is fine.  However, due to the fact that Lifetime Wish choices change based on life state that a LTW is the absolute last thing that is to be chosen before leaving CAS.

I have a question concerning children born with the same Lifestate as the previous generation, and as a result not qualifying as the next heir: are you allowed to age them up quicker? That is, as soon as I'm allowed to use the cake again?

There are no restrictions on spares when it comes to life shortening or extending.  So yes you could age them up immediately and continuously.

Rules Updates:

All content that came with Dragon Valley and the venue "The Duke of Bows Renaissance Faire" is approved for the Life States Dynasty.

The Violin skill is not eligible for a Supermax.

The rules for Edit Town have been updated to include the three new venues that allowed to have lot designation changes.   The Community Garden, Dragon Tavern and McCafferty's Pub are all eligible for rezoning.   The official festival lot released by SimGuruSmitty is allowed to be placed as well.   Note:  It doesn't actually spawn festivals though.  This should be fixed in the future.  If you start a life states dynasty before it's available, you will not be able to place the fixed version when it is fixed.  So if you want festivals, I suggest placing one from the other towns.

So, what's the deal with infants?  Am I allowed to age them up as soon as they are born?

You can only age up an heir early if they have fulfilled their requirements for that life stage.   Since the infant life stage doesn't have any requirements, heirs cannot be aged up early while in slug form.   Spares can be caked at anytime as it's only the heirs that have this restriction.
