What does the air conditioning unit do?

The townie house I'm playing has one.  So far, I can't tell that it does anything except make it look more realistic.

But I read that you didn't need them when Seasons comes out. They said rooms will keep you warm or cool, just by being in a room.

As for making things more realistic - that probably depends where you're from. Here in Sweden almost no one has air condition. So, I'll probably not remember to use it if it doesn't have an effect. Since they aren't part of what I deem "realistic".

Very true.  I'm in Texas, U.S.A. and we have one almost exactly like it in our back yard.
