That picture of Alicia and Riley fighting is hilarious! Looking forward to Lisa and Ben's nooboo, hopefully he/she won't have Tammie's chin. I'm loving this story!

I want that on a teeshirt.

Thanks Isis, welcome to the forum! I have no idea how Ben and Lisa'a genes are going to mix, but that's the whole point of doing a town jump in the first place right?  :)

Chapter 28 – A Better Place

Ben’s graduation ceremony is everything he could have wanted. He wins Class Valedictorian, Highest Honour, and Most Likely to Save the World. That last one is especially pleasing to him.

The first step in saving the world is joining the fire department.

Ben gets straight to work on his Athletic and Handiness skills.

“Stop right there, kid! There’s no way you’re fighting fires in a costume.”
“But I must! How else can I protect my secret identity?”
“I know your identity. It’s on the employment papers.”
“But boss, without this costume, I am only a man. With it, I become an invincible symbol that the people can look up to and place hope in when times are bleak.”
“People will place hope in you as long as you put out their fires. Go get your overalls on.”

And so he does.  :)

Alicia appears to have taken Caitlin under her wing. They’re always chatting and doing cute things together.

Or maybe Caitlin just attracts the shady types. Three guesses who this kid is.

“What traits do you have, Maggie? I’m a Vegetarian like grandma.”
“Vegetarians are stupid. Steak and burgers are just like every other harvestable.”

“You’re mean!”
“So?”
“I’ll tell your dad on you!”
“You think Shark’s my real dad? You’re even dumber than you look, cuz.”

The visit doesn’t last for very long.

Riley follows his wife into Elderhood, losing all his hair and muscle mass. I can fix the hair, but the muscles are gone forever.

“It’s late, Riley. Come to bed.”
“But I need to get my muscles back! Must get fit! Must get fit! Must get fit!” *sob*

Fire-fighting is rough work and Ben finds he needs time to wind down. He rings up Lisa and invites her out to dinner as Caitlin prepares for her birthday.

Caitlin, being a Loner, skips the celebrations completely. She ages up outside during a game of tag with Alicia.

She gains the Flirty trait to match those sultry eyes of hers.

“What… what is this bewildering feeling? Is this… pride?”

“No, it cannot be! I have a tramp of a great-niece to mentor now!”

“You scoundrel! Release me immediately!”
“I KNOW YOU WANT TO LIVE, ALICIA. AS MUCH AS IT KILLED ME, I WAITED AS LONG AS I COULD TO COME FOR YOU.”
“This is outrageous! I’m only a hundred and four!”
“WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR PLACE IN THE UNDERWORLD THE LENGTH OF YOUR LIFE WILL MEAN NOTHING. YOU WILL LIVE IN EVERLASTING BLISS AND REIGN OVER YOUR SUBJECTS FOR ETERNITY.”

“Hmmm, when you put it that way it actually sounds almost tolerable. Will Doctor Snow be there?”

“OF COURSE. SHE’S VERY EAGER TO SEE YOU.”
“Excellent! I may enjoy being dead after all. Lead the way, sir!”
“I THINK THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF A BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIP.”

Rest in peace, Alicia. I was starting to think you were immortal, and to be honest? I kind of wish you were.

“Oh no! I just left to do my hair and now this! If only I could have forseen it somehow!”

“Hey Ben, do you see the lights in the sky? Apparently they're caused by unicorns. Stupid, right?”

R.I.P. Alicia, may you reign forever with Dr Snow by your side.

Now I'm interested in who Maggie's "real" father is (I'm horrible at guessing).

And I'm totally on Ben's side, a bunny costume is not enough to protect his identity. He'll need wings for that. ;D

I love all of Ben's outfits. Immediately when I read the title of the chapter I guessed Alicia would be dying. R.I.P Alicia, the last of the Bridgeport Joneses.

Lol, good guess. I was trying to make the title a bit ambiguous. Ben's trying to make the world a better place, see?  ;)

Thanks Isis, and welcome to the forum! I'm going to miss her as well.  :(

Magpie looks a lot like Savannah, but she's got at least one distinctive feature of her father's. See if you can spot it in later chapters.  ;)

Ohhh!  Alicia!  I'll miss her greatly.  Great update.

Thanks Odinsdottir. :)  The death took me by surpise, I was planning on including more from Ben and Lisa's date.

Shhhhhh  ;). There'll be pictures of her as a teen in Chapter 30, so you might be able to confirm your suspicions then.

Side note: Remember back in Bridgeport when I had over a thousand screenshots? Well, now I have five thousand, five hundred and fifty-eight. I honestly don't know how I get so many.  :o

Lol Ausette! Are all those screenshots just from your story?
I don't have a clue who the daddy is.

Yep, I remove the irrelevant ones. As for Magpie's dad, it looks like I'll just have to keep dropping hints.  ;)

Chapter 29 – Heating Up

Ben’s been upgrading the plumbing to increase his Handiness for work. Look, the family’s dishes wash themselves now! (ha ha ha)

He’s settled very well into his new profession. The only downside is that it doesn’t give him much time to be with Lisa.

“No, I can’t come over, darling. I am busy defending the innocent.”

“Hey Ben.”
“GYAH! How did you find my secret headquarters?!”
“I asked your mum. So what do you actually do for a living? Are you some kind of clown mechanic?”

“Alas, I cannot tell. The lives of too many civilians hang in the balance.”
“Oh, who cares about…”

“Wait, is that a fire engine? You’re a fire-fighter?

“OH MY GOSH THAT’S THE HOTTEST THING EVER!”
“But… My work does not scare you? You aren’t wondering if the man you fell in love with was merely a carefully-crafted façade?”
“Are you KIDDING? People make CALENDARS of handsome firemen! Is there a shower around here we can woohoo in?”
“Lisa…  You are even more loyal to me than I thought. Truly, you have a beautiful soul.”

“Marry me, my love.”
“Oh Ben, you don’t even have to ask! Yes!

“I can almost hear the wedding bells already!”
“That’s the fire alarm, dear. Have to run.”

Ben, honest worker that he is, finishes a full day of work before he rushes home to tell his family about his engagement. Remarkably, the Sims involved in this house fire have the sense to run to safety. Shall we take a closer look at those spectators?

For shame, Tim! The nutter in the bunny hat is a better fire-fighter than you!

“Mother! I’m going to be married!”
“To Lisa? Oh Ben, you can do so much better than her!”

“I feared you would not approve. Just remember this - however you feel about Lisa, I love her and I wish to make her my wife.”
“Well… if she makes you happy…”
“More than anything else in the world.”
“*sigh* Then I guess I’m going to be the shrewish mother-in-law. Congratulations, Ben.”

“Caitlin, what do you think of Ben’s fiancée?”
“Um, I don’t really know her that well. Isn’t there someone else you could ask?”

Tammie still can't seem to leave Caitlin alone. I think she’s trying to compensate for working through most of Ben's childhood.

On Friday night Riley throws Ben a bachelor party. Doesn’t the groom look dashing in his Dress to Impress gear? I think the mask adds a nice air of mystery.

A round of drinks is ordered and quickly ingested by the guests. Soon everyone’s having a wonderful time dancing and socialising throughout the pub.

Caitlin sneaks into the party with the goal of meeting boys. She quickly regrets this when Tammie turns up and decides to treat the party like another family bonding exercise.

“Come on Caitlin, have some fun! Dance with me for a bit!”
“...”

Shark Racket is invited since he's technically family. He spends the first half the night dancing drunkenly on a table...

…And the second half wandering around looking lost. I don’t think married life is treating him very well.

Er, guys? That dart game doesn’t seem very safe.

Good old Riley has the time of his life getting himself and everyone else in the room covered in nectar. He’s one of the few Sims left in the bar at closing time.

It's such a good party that the owners have to kick everyone out at six the next morning. Now there’s nothing left to do but recover in time for the wedding!
