oh, it isn't your fault, Shirin.

I'm starting to get work coming out of my ears (I'm on here during my lunch break).

I am kind of bemoaning the fact that the work, which I love btw, is taking me away from the Sims 3. :)

I like my class well enough, but I currently have a few projects that I need to do, which means I couldn't post more than an introduction to my founder so far. Which makes me sad, because his file gets me all excited at the whole huge challenge it represents.  :D

Can imaginary friends count count for the best friends requirement?

I believe that imaginary friends can. I am sure that they can if they become real and remain at best friend level. If they don't get transformed into being real, I'm not sure. Although the rules do say that things like cars count as best friends. Maybe the Immortal Dynasty thread on the challenges board would be a more suitable place for this to be asked, Toni. I'll find the link to it and post it here for you. :) Here's the link to the first page and post of that thread.

(1) I don't know if this will cause Metro to ban Imaginary Friends but I use Imaginary Friends as the spouses of each heir. It saves a lot of trouble having to spouse hunt and run into glitchy NPCs that become too old to breed, sort of what happened to Sound Man with his first wife.  >:( I had Madison VonWatson make some Metamorphium potions for the future and I love the made-real Imaginary Friends!  ;)

I disagree. Although the tip itself is OK (marrying an IF means that sudden vampires and deaths are avoided), breeding IF's is thought to lead to game corruption - namely a not aging bug. I had this. ratchie and Rica had this.

*whistles innocently and smiles*

My plan doesn't have thoughts of intentional killing or moving anyone out. I get distraught whenever my sims die of old age, for me to start to run around kill my sims intentionally. :) It does involve males ... at least the founder has to be male. :)

Let's just say the founder's five nooboos to teens will probably be old enough to celebrate their father's wedding when that happy day eventually comes.

Drat it. I now want to try it to see if it'll work. :(

Since the terminology is "Raise five children from Baby to Teen", I always assumed that you had to have them in the house with you. I suppose that is not necessarily the case however.

I don't know if this has already been done, but does anyone have a list of usefull townies? Like those with skills like Holly Alto and Agnes Crumplebottom who start with the painting skills, or sims helpful money-wise like Chester Swain who is at level 9 in his career and thus helps with money shortages early on.

Emmaline Roehn (spelling) from Hidden Springs has cooking maxed at the start of the game, and has her LTW of Cullinary Librarian achieved (30k LTHP in one hit thank you very much).

Billy Caspian (Riverview) has high painting.

I'm also kind of impressed with what the Grisby family bring to the table.

And the YA Elaine Joy in terms of painting as well.

A list of the most useful Twinbrook townies, possibly incomplete:

- Marshall Curious has the highest gardening skill in the town, at level 6. He also has some points in fishing. To top it all off, he's actually quite handsome, if married and 5 days to elder.

- Rich Whelohff has five levels in gardening and a few in fishing. Also one of the only pre-made savvy sculptors in Twinbrook. 13 days to elder, and married.

- Lincoln Baker has two levels in gardening. 11 or so days to adult, unmarried, though with commitment issues.

- Oliver and Holly Greenwood both have a few levels in gardening, and Holly has some cooking points as well. They're married with children, and both about 16 days to elder.

- Skeet and Gwayne Bayless are both at fishing level 7. I'm not too sure on how close they are to elderhood. Chase and Tay have some points as well. Yes, I know, they're homely, but look at all that fishing skill! EDIT: I'm actually using Skeet as the family fisherman in my newest attempt, and he only has five points. It's Gwayne who has seven. They're both about 16 days to elder.

- Gala Ball has 4 points in cooking, and she's eco-friendly, which is great for doubling up with gardening. 15 days to adult.

- Mary Baker has 6 points in cooking. Unmarried, good traits, but 10 days to elder.

- I think Lolly comes pre-packaged with some points in cooking. 7 days to young adult. Either way, she's a perfect dynasty wife.

- Julienne Knack has one point in cooking and one in painting. She's rather close to adult. EDIT: I think Julienne is 8-10 days to adult, going by my third attempt. My math might be wrong, but it's in that range.

- Amy Bull has 3 points in painting. 19 days to adult.

- Marc Brandt has 4 points in painting. 21 days to elder, and commitment issues.

- Juan Darer has 4 points in painting and 1 in sculpting. 82 days old, somewhat hard to woo, and infamously ugly. Also red-skinned.

- Buddy Bailey has 2 points in painting, and he's eco-friendly if you want him to double-up on gardening. 12 days to adult.

- Harwood Clay has 7 points in sculpting, 3 in painting, and he's eco-friendly to boot. Also, he's the only pre-made sim outside of Union Cove that can get started on the ice sculpting challenge right away. 73 days old.

- Sofia Carlton is rich! And she completes her lifetime wish the moment you sell her car. With the fast learner LTR, she can learn some dynasty-relevant skill, but unaltered, she only comes with two points in charisma. If you have trouble finding her, she is almost always a consignment specialist in my game. I think she's 11 days to adult, give or take 3 days.

- DeAndre Wolfe is also rich! And he comes with no dynasty-relevant skills (though he has the highest guitar skill in Twinbrook, and playing for tips can be quite lucrative). He's close to elder, and his genes don't play nice with all features.

Thanks for that, TheTrip, I usually play Twinbrook myself.  Julienne Knack is my current founder's spouse and DeAndre Wolf was moved in as a helper, so I started the legacy with plenty of simoleons.

When I played in Riverview I married Elaine Joy and also moved in her father Norman - she can cook and paint, and Norman has Gardening 8 so he can plant any special seeds you find starting from day 1. They don't bring a lot of cash to the table immediately, but really, you can live without walls for a week or so...

I have a question regarding supermax skills, which is more relevant here than in the help thread with the rules etc. If you play in a town and make no changes to the layout are there skills that are difficult/impossible to supermax? As an example, if I'm playing in the base Sunset Valley I should not try to supermax mixology because the game does not automagically place bars.

I also guess along with this, thoughts along the lines of supermaxed skill suggestions by generation might be useful as well.

Cathy, I did the same thing in Sunset Valley. For additional excitement, I also moved in the Grandpas household, couple of good fishers in there and the third one is good at cooking. I had them all in the same bedroom, and the grandfathers and Norman left the room hurriedly when my founder and Elaine tried for baby one night :)

If you decide not to place an equestrian center, I think you could count out riding as a skill as well. Alchemy without the Elixir Shop might be harder, depending on if you can get alchemy recipes elsewhere or not (I haven't checked).

Everything else seems like it won't depend on EP-specific buildings.

You could have asked on the rules thread all you wanted.  I think the equestrian center gets autoplaced if it is than riding should be ok.    You know guitar is bad no matter where you are.   Without at least one showtime venue, it would take a really long time to max out any of those professions. Which coincidentally aren't skills so pardon the mention. Mixology would be the only one as far as I can tell out of the 21 available.  Just remember you can't supermax Inventing in Bridgeport.

@Trip - Alchemy recipes are available at the bookstore.  They're just cheaper at the elixir shop.. (sometimes).

The equestrian centre does get autoplaced, however it is on the Dynasty lot, 15 Summerhill Cout. You're going to have to remove it to play a dynasty in Sunset Valley.
